We should all cry into a jar and mail Anet our tears so they can understand how much it hurts.

It would be fantastic if the next 10 medium armor sets released weren’t trench-coats.

I’ve suggested a 1 year moratorium on trench coats. they can go back to making them in mid-2015.

There have been numerous threads in the forum since beta asking for armor without buttcapes on women and trenchcoats on men. They claim to read the forums so they must be seeing these but each time they release new armor it’s the same old thing. A variation on the class theme they have decided upon. They seem to be very entrenched on their view of what each class should be wearing and unwilling to change no matter how many times they see requests for more variety in styles.

I predict this thread and any succeeding threads will slide off the front page, unacknowledged and without results.

I surely hope not si Astral, at least I won’t make a halt of it before they answer.

I have no problem with coats. I like coats.
I have problems with the idiotic shapes they give (giant butts wth?!)
and the lack of metal parts. Everything looks curved and plastic,
no fur, no metal, no leather plates… I miss Skyrim

Even if they add another armor set it will be in the cash shop.

Well you can trade ur gold for gems so its like a t 3 cultural considereing the price, even cheaper if u dont just want the chestpiece.

Non Trenchcoats are fricken awesome. Dunno what the designers have against them. >.<

There’s always the option of them adding a hide chest armor toggle too still, as a temp fix.

You’re right. Its 1. Charr Male T3 Chest. Nothing else even comes close to being a non medium/long coat for males, except T1 male and vipers, with T1 looking like kitten with the balloon sleeves and vipers having that ugly crap on the sides.

Not counting the human t1 on males which looks like garbage, there is literally one medium chest piece that looks like a shirt without some extra crap hanging off the sides of it.

Sorry, I was specifically referring to the chest piece of human male T1. I do like the legs.

For me its not the coats themselves, its the fact that there is almost nothing else to choose from.

I’ve reached 80 with my ranger few days ago (i main ele), yesterday I started looking for medium armor skin… i can’t belive it, i saw all the skin gallery and i wanted to cry… they’re so ugly…

You are right ofc, but these are not exactly majestic looks. Just look at the new flame kissed light armor, it’s amazing, leaps better than anything we medium users got in my very subjective opinion.

Also, being all “uhu, ANet, Y U NO ANSWER ME” attitude isn’t going to help. I agree we need more variety. But we can do little else but, suggest and wait. Devs don’t have an obligation to answer every thread/post, And frankly, they wouldn’t have time. If this becomes a bigger issue and more and more poeple start talking about it, maybe they’ll consider allocating resources to it. This does not seem to be the case (I’ve been on forums, threads like these doesn’t seem to attract much attention) and so resources are allocated towards other aspects deemed more pressing.

When the endgame is 100% to do with looks and not really a whole lot of anything else, it is certainly important. I have gripes stemming from beta of bad graphic/meshing issues with norn females in all armors and several hair styles that have only been fixed for humans since betas… Putting the time in to fix some of the old, and frankly best, content in the game would win them many more hearts than forging ahead at all costs. And I don’t see how you could not think medium armor especially needs a whole lot of help, real bad… heavy and light both have all levels of coverage done several different ways, medium gets cultural and maybe 2 or 3 other sets (duelist and kinda meh gem store sets) to break the trench stalemate.

EDIT: actually a whole bunch of the medium trench coat sets would only need a few metal plates and maybe the SE helmet to fly as heavy armor…

I guess it depends on each person’s opinion, personally the medium one (flamewalker) is my favorite of the three flame sets, and that includes back when the flamekissed had the T3 model, and much more now (not a big fan of the featheres set look).

Falconer is nice, just not my style to shine. Skirt shape isn’t as stylish as female.
Sorrow’s: Steampunk, yeah. Way too bulky for my taste.

The viper leggings have some utility on female. Although I’m pretty sure it’s not what the art team has intended. I’ve been considering a similar look for a while, but it feels a bit weird to hold my massive weapons wearing this :-)

I totally support u Op. Female Charr Gets male versions on all gear… Having a Ranger leves me with VERY few good looking options… Thank god the ascended looks good on charr. But apart from that I’v only found 1 set!!!

And then we have all the clipping and tent looking stretching many of the coats offer…. Same with many of the head pieces. Especially as they fit poorly onto the new female faces and the wiered neck shape the faces bring…

Well it depends on how these informations are transferred by whom, if at all.

So here is my best attempt at plated med armor, didn’t have a lot of choices, and I def didn’t want to use radiant armor. I chose the leather hat because I felt it was a good fit for my set, but if you want a plate like helm try the skin from hotw.

Finger’s crossed for a cool set of medium armor in the gem store today :P

Yeh, the new Clelestial armors are…. +18 shops offer the same designs…
But its not that bad for some, meanwhile We still in the need and if you’re even a ranger, you’re kinda doomed for a while…

A little bit of a thread necro here but I didn’t really want to start another one just for this post, and I didn’t find anything newer in the first couple pages to post in sooo….

I actually really like the new striders skin in the gem store – on females that is. Aside from the fishnet bits, I really do like it! the whole skin tight body suit look without going overboard on the chest, which they so easily could have done… I like it.

Unfortunately though, it just doesn’t look as good on males. Again they’re stuck with a stupid buttcape.. coat … thing.

Why couldn’t something similar have been done for the male version? I’m not asking for much (no fishnets on males please ;P) – just less coats/buttcapes and a bodysuit type medium armor skin for males. I know you can do it ANET. You did it in GW1 with assassins and rangers.

True. I guess no one is interested in having more armor customization options. Kinda cant blame them when there mechanics and end game stuff to focus on.

However the fact threads like this are being started proves theres a group of us who do want more freedom in the look of our armor.

It’s not that there isn’t any player interest, it’s just that we’ve tried and tried so many times post-launch and after. ArenaNet just didn’t care to listen and still went out and released armor set after armor set of long coats for Adventurers. Most of us got tired of being ignored. Luckly, with the latest set that came out, it looks as thought they’re finally starting to throw us a bone, even if the male version is still coat-esc.

My biggest hope, and I know this’ll never happen, is for ArenaNet to just do away with armor weight restrictions. This’ll give players complete freedom in how we can mix and match our armor, but it doesn’t look like will happen any time soon…
