Most Overplayed Class?
IMO there can’t be too many guardians. They have an incredible amount of utility and strength in both pve and pvp.
Thieves, warriors and rangers are probably the 3 most played — not necessarily in that order.
Haven’t really seen many thieves and guardians. However, I’ve seen quite a load of warriors, which makes a bit of sense as some would assume they are the first one to choose to learn the game.
Rangers. Rangers everywhere.
For some odd reason I’m not seeing that many rangers around. Or elementalists.
Rangers are just easy to spot (they even show up on maps because of their almost always dead pets). I would say Mesmer also quite popular, but maybe I pay more attention to them because I play one myself.
At first I wanted to say Ranger, but then I realized that the only reason I see so many of them is because it’s quite noticeable in WvW, what with all the “dead pets needing res’s” everywhere.
I now change my vote to Mesmer, because everytime I try to down a clothy in the middle of a x-zerg, I seem to just be killing another clone..
I would say rangers or necro’s. Both a fairly easy class. Can anyone say 3 health bars and more damage mitigation than a warrior?
I’ve actually seen a pretty good balance of things on my server, except for maybe Engineers.
It’s like there are 4 times as many mesmers as there are of any other class.
In the beginning it seemed like all I saw were warriors, thieves, and rangers. At lvl 53 I have started seeing more mesmers than thieves.
I play Warrior. I see quite a few others, but not near as many as I do Guardians.
Ive seen a fair deal of elementalists actually. Might have something to do with the fact that I am one…

Im guessing this is an Illusions joke :P

I think their is a pretty even balance of classes. The only one I don’t notice a lot is the necromancer, but I still see a good amount of them.
Way too many rangers on Blackgate
People bring up a good point; you usually see the most of the class you play :P
Rangers, which sucks because naturally I really enjoy the class. Though I plan to have one of each eventually.
I don’t really see any major problems on my server, well besides the lack of engineers.

I have an engineer and liked it until I got around level 30. I hate that I don’t have more actual weapons to use. I understand I have kits and all but I haven’t found one that I like very much and instead I wind up just being a turret-placer which… has gotten repetitive and boring (which sucks because I really desperately wanted to play that class).
Warriors. I play a warrior, I know.
Thieves, Rangers, Warriors and Mesmers seem to be quite popular at the moment. What I don’t see enough is Nercomancers… why are they all hiding away from me?! I’m friendly…. T_T

That feel. I know it.
One of the biggest problems with Engi in my eyes is the wonky weapon mechanics. Flamethrowers seem to fire in a T shape, allowing me to hit my 3, 9 and 12 all at once. If you use the 3 ability and immediately follow with 2, it’s almost always obstructed. Oh, and let’s not forget having to remind each secondary weapon every single time I decide to equip it that the first ability should be on auto-attack.
I stopped having fun with mine in a big hurry, which is a shame, because I loved the idea of being able to equip myself with a tool for every situation and be prepared for anything that could be thrown at me.
My Engi motto has become “screw it, I’ll just drop some turrets” and that is not the Engi I signed up for.
On topic: I see tons of Warriors. I think on Tarnished Coast, they just fall from the sky – complete with their trademark pile of signets and precision gear.
Nethalia Frostmane [Ranger], Lyzanxia Unsu [Engineer]
Torg Darkmaw [Thief], Zekka The Architect [Elementalist]

This is exactly my issue which then results in more issues because I’m on an RP server for a reason and I planned to RP that character and after 33 levels I would hate to delete her and start from scratch on another profession with her, because what if Engi gets better in the future. It’s such a difficult decision.
So for now, I’ve moved on over to Darby Rue, Ranger. Which I really enjoy. Sadly it’s very populated.
you don t see necros or many of them cause they where a very survival and almost imposible to kill class in beta …. but then ther was the big cryout … and necro got nerved from OP in BW1 to ok but not good in BW2 to absolutly unplayable in BW3 … only those who didn t play necro in the bw 1-3 are playin that class…. power necro useless … conditionmancer nerved in the ground…. why play a class that needs 12 sec to get 10 bleeds up …. in those 10 sec a axe ranger or cond thief stacks 20 to 25 bleeds … and i m down and they have 3/4 of their life still ….. but i heard a rumor that necro will be completly overhowled … hopefully to the better and not the worse …
I rarely target people to check their class, and sometimes it can be hard to distinguish them visually. And of course, I am more likely to notice players of my own class!
That said, I see a LOT of heavy armor wearers, a fair amount of Elementalists (my class lol), and also a lot of Rangers, though their pets make them more noticeable so this could just be my perception.
I don’t think “overplayed” would be a good description of any class though . . . you can never have too many, if everyone is having fun! ^^
Yeah, I don’t think you really know what all the classes “are” (i.e. what they do) until you’ve played them, so psychologically you tend to notice the class you are playing until you’ve played a few alts to moderate levels.
My Engi motto has become “screw it, I’ll just drop some turrets” and that is not the Engi I signed up for.
Heh. Oddly that’s exactly the kind of Engineer I wanted to play the minute I saw it and I’m still having a blast at level 50.
Diff’rent strokes.
Genius
Guardians, Warriors, Thieves are extremely popular currently and make up the majority of players I see: all due to them being much stronger than other classes in most areas of the game….
Something could be said about me being the only active high level elementalist in my 90+ player guild. They are all Guards, thieves, and wars lol.
Out of the four times I’ve run AC, I’ve had two Guardians in my party every time and always at least one Warrior. Seen more of them than anything else, though I do spot a decent amount of Rangers.
I see a lot of flame throwing engineers. I think I pay more attention to them because they stand out. Other than that, a lot of warriors and rangers.
If you go into sPvP at rank 1, you will swear that every class other than Thief is an endangered species, haha.
The easier more OP classes are most popular It isnt rocket science. Thiefs rangers warrs and grdns are the vast majority of players. There is so many thiefs its insane, sPVP is 80% thiefs and wvw is prob 50%.
I think you see a ton of thieves in SPvP and low levels, but they tend to taper off the higher you get.
My Engi motto has become “screw it, I’ll just drop some turrets” and that is not the Engi I signed up for.

I felt, for some reason, like Engineer’s would be a “jack of all trades” sort of class. Like we would have a lot of different & viable options, but I just… don’t feel that’s the case after playing them for as long as I have. Sadly, it’s time, I think, to move onto a different class for a while and watch how they progress over the next few months.
But you are right, different strokes.
I wonder why Ele numbers dropped from the beta. They used to be extremely popular in WvW…I can’t remember when I killed one last time.
At the moment it depends where I am.
Up to about level 40/50 out in the world it seemed pretty even, maybe a few more warriors.
50+ zones, seem to see a lot of Guardians (to the point where 1 in 4 people I was seeing in Dredgehaunt today was a Guardian) – don’t know why that is.
Engineers definitely the lowest followed by Mesmer – out in the world anyway.
Stood in the mists for 15 minutes today clicking on people to see what kind of proportions it was and in there it seemed pretty level (same in Lion’s Arch), still engineers definitely rarer than anything else though.

Guardian and Warriors are the most overplayed. I always see giant, male norn and charrs running into battle with greatswords.
Didn’t ANet come out with BWE stats on class creations?
They should do that at the 1 month point… one for created, another for level 80. haha.
Isle of Janthir
Learn my name, or do not. The world will know it soon enough.
I actually think there are more Warriors around.. I think people just notice Rangers/assume they’re mostly used because once they see a pet running along with them, they know it’s a Ranger.. so it sticks in their mind. :/

I see tonnes of Engineers…and their turrets.
I see even more Guardians.
Necros and Mesmer I see about the same amount.
A good number of Warriors.
Oodles of Rangers.
And a few thieves.
A pretty good showing for all classes really.
What do I play ? Still havn’t made up my mind.
They all play pretty similar in my opnion at low level (20).Maybe because I play them all ranged, would play melee, but that’s just a KO waiting to happen. =P
I see too many warriors and a balance of everything else
Greatsword warrior with 5 signets. Can’t go 5 minutes without seeing one, no matter where I am.
Rangers and Warriors. Rangers everywhere. A major lack of Engineers on my server.
I think their is a pretty even balance of classes. The only one I don’t notice a lot is the necromancer, but I still see a good amount of them.
As a Necro, I may shed some insight on why you see so few of them.
No, it’s not that they could stealth. The profession is simply broken beyond redemption. I’ll play mine to play with the wife and am longing to level an alt that taks less than half a minute to kill a single normal mob of the same level.
If “overplayed” means “popular”, people seem to like their Rangers and Warriors. I feel I see them more than the other professions. I have one of each myself.
Warriors and Elementalists I believe. I see a fair deal of engineers, too – or at least their turrets at many locations.
Really though, I feel it’s pretty well balanced.
Btw: No matter how broken you find the necromancer, I still have a blast playing mine It’s probably not suited for people preferring burst damage, though.
