Most annoying GW2 sounds
Maybe not one that you hear often, but one sound in GW2 has left me with more seething rage than any other….
“Let’s take a moment to appreciate this blend’s bold undertones”
You’ll probably get a bunch of replies about minis, but I’m gonna give a more hipstery answer: Whirlwind Attack. It sounds like the character has a turbocharger implanted in his rectum.
probably bees….. was sitting in royal terrance and someone had permanent aura of bees…. that buzzing got tiring pretty fast

“Your base is under attack!” when the match hasn’t even started yet.
I always feel the need to go out and try and kill them out of pure rage
That or I mute my speakers until the match starts lol.
the new warhorn sound..
and i’m a warrior…
had to mute my game to play it..
thanks anet
dancing emote voices, especially asuran.
I love the audio team, they make great sound effects and are quite a quirky bunch (Judging by the PoI we had)
I would say the new horn sound is the worst, it was a mistake to change it.
Revenant sword auto/ daredevil staff auto since it’s a reused sound.
I named my rev. “Annoying Auto” because of it.
50/50 GWAMM x3
I quit how I want

Was that from Belcher’s Bluff?
Feel the fire of Balthazar!
New Warhorn sounds…
I don’t even know the name of it, some back item maybe? Some asura something-tron I’d guess, which comments everything you do, from getting buffs to taking damage.
The new Warhorn. kittens.

Aaah, my good friend Job-o-tron (aka Annoy-o-tron). I love it. I have it on my “golemancer style” Asura guardian.
“BOING”
“Faster… FAAAASTERR”
“Your-grawl-impression-is-really-coming-along”
“Turbo-mode… ENGAAAAAAGED”
Easily engineer mines. They ping nonstop with a super grating noise and they’re automatically deployed when you use one of two decent traits (speedy kits when swapping to grenades and bunker down). They’re the only reason I don’t use bunker down more.

Yeah, that thing! It drives me insane just coming across people who have it, I can’t imagine how bad it’d be if I had it myself…
The Ho-Ho-Tron mini, as I’m pretty sure it never stops ringing that bell. Just constant noise every time its nearby.

I know that noise… what does it come from?
One of my personal favourites is the “MEWMEWMEWMEWMEWMEWMEWMEW” from the Uncategorised Fractal’s kitty golems. I wonder if the minis available in HoT will make these noises.
I also enjoy the pop-gun skin’s noise, along with The Predator’s awesome futuristic gun noise.
There’s a golem in Rata Sum that plays a kind of song and then proceeds to say “Good Morning!”
Oh, and one of my least favourite in game sounds is mesmer greatsword auto attack.

I think it’s some sort of robot pet? Maybe something that came from the Donkey Kong room?

I do understand It’s been nearly 2 years and I still have that in my ears.
On topic:
Bird mail carrier sound.
Add me to the “new war horn” crowd. Ugh.
Edit: Ick = kittens, but Ugh = OK. Sigh.

Squeaking/creaking lathes and looms etc at crafting stations, always have to turn environmental sounds to zero when I craft

the adventure box banana mini makes sounds that could be described that way
The insipid and repetitive dialogue on many npcs. I would listen to the new warhorn all day long rather than hear that researcher at the reactor entrance telling me one more time how the reactor exploded and the something something did something something.

“When the reactor blew, the world’s fabric turned inside out!”
and my favourite: “Grab a powder keg and get blasting!”
This all being said, there is so much NPC dialogue that I have felt like I’ve missed out on. Because of this thread I went exploring in Rata Sum and heard and read all sorts of hilarious things. There are some amazing lines I have found on YouTube between Marjory and other biconics early on around the time of the Tower of Nightmares LS. It’s hilarious and pretty double entendre- quite a surprise really!

YES!! Absolutely. There is so much good dialogue that brings this world to life. There are so many wonderful little conversations you can overhear in passing as you travel across the world.
But it’s soured by the bad design idea of putting some npcs with few lines in locations so frequented (e.g. the bank) that you can’t help but hear the same four or five lines (or just one in the case of the reactor guy or that “if the mordrem can reach the grove” guy in SW) repeated almost non stop. That kills the immersion and makes the npcs seem like hot-spot-triggered audio clips.
Okay… I’m calm. I’m calm. Enough said about that.</rant>

It was worse before they muted it. >_>"
And yet, new warhorn sound would almost win. Almost.
Except:

Because F that stupid shortbow. -_-####
“I’m finding companies should sell access to forums,

I can hardly hear the warhorn at all and my ranger uses his often so I am not sure why everyone else is having issues with it.
For me it’s the sound the mystic forge, waypoints and portals make when you are near them – very obnoxious.
That one krait mini that makes a sound like a sick person clearing out its throat…ugh.
My character making bad puns everytime I do something.
….. And Elementalist.
The auto attack on the elixir gun.
I love the sounds in this game, but there are some that annoy me.
That ringing/droning noise waypoints make when I stand near them.
Some of the minis, the SAB minis, and I think it might be Hoho-tron, the incessant ting-ting-ting-ting.
The level up sound when someone deems it necessary to spam them while standing at the banker.
I forgot to add: the mini banana (SAB mini) for that sound alone I’d love a “mute all minis” option
My list of most annoying sounds.
- Bolt: I wish they’d make the animation sounds a bit more subtle. Hearing that sharp piercing electric sound every time I swing my sword is the one factor that mars an otherwise great legendary for me.
- Guardian scepter auto attack: It makes a very sharp rasping sound, which gets irritating after a while. Even rifles and pistols are much more subtle, and they are firearms. <_<
- Elementalist air dagger auto attack: Also a bit too loud and overbearing for an auto attack.
Generally speaking, I’m of the opinion that auto attack sounds should always be more subtle. I don’t mind loud noises for spells with longer cooldowns, and where you only hear the sound now and then. But to hear it on every single attack is just overbearing.
That sound the skelks make when they disappear. Because you know they’re going to be annoying you in a moment.

I used to think (build op, pls nerf) like you, but then I took a nerf to the knee.
“If Mordremoth can attack the mother tree in the Grove, he can attack anywhere!” During selling in Silverwastes. My god, this guy tells that every 30 seconds, it’s so annoying.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
When my guy says “That looks valuable” or “You can never have too much treasure” when you’re 99.9999% sure that the item is worth kitten all.
The most annoying has to be the sound accompanying many thief skills but worst is Heartseeker.
Nothing beats Bolt on self. The looped crackling and buzzing sounds overpowering everything in game is hilariously broken.
That new warhorn sound….. its like they found a flatuating yak and said ‘THATS IT!’
The axe and staff sounds for the necromancer. They are absolutely terrible!
No no no.
No no no.
No no no.

‘’Rare treasure!’’
For me, there are 3 annoying noises, and they are annoying because I am unable to turn them off:
- the repetitive talking of the tron-backpack. Funny for 5 minutes, annoying after that, because no information is given with the talk.
- the repetitive talking of the copper-fed recycling kit. Funny for 5 minutes, annoying after that, because no information is given with the talk.
- the repetitive noise from one (or more?) of the SAB minipets, I think the banana is one of them.

The funny part about this one is: usually female sylvari sound kind of cute and friendly BUT when they say this very phrase it is like they let inner Gollum out.
