Most beautiful and interesting zone?
I personally love the Shiverpeaks zones. I’d take mountains over jungle or arid zones any time. Haven’t visited Frostgorge Sound yet, I’m curious how it looks. It’s hard to pick one of the zones, but I’d go with Timberline Falls.
I also think Timberline falls is the mos beautiful one!
I have to agree with Timberline Falls as far as the look of the zone goes. I haven’t even competed it yet but love the way it looks.
Now that I’m 80 I’ve got to go back and complete it.

I can’t think of a specific zone off the top of my head, but I love the Ascalon and Shiverpeaks regions. Always loved winter zones, but I love Ascalon because it’s pretty in a melancholy sort of way. It’s really well done.
Looking forward to the “badlands” parts of Maguuma, too.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
Granted I havn’t been to every zone yet, but I’m getting there, and still have a soft spot for Metrica Province. I love all the Asura events, they’re worth a million and a half giggles.

BloodTide Coast…kill me now.
Fields of Ruin or Blazeridge steppes for me, just reminds me of pre-searing Ascalon.
I probably go with all the snow capped zones, just like the look and feel over the others.
to me, all the Charr zones look the best.
The better question is what area isn’t beautiful and interesting?
I find Timberline Falls by far the most beautiful of all zones.
Tricky, but I think I’ll go with Lornar’s Pass. It just feels so REAL, so… I dunno, authentic? The atmosphere is great at night too, especially when there’s no music playing and you just hear the ambience.
Timberline Falls. Most aesthetically pleasing hands down.
The light, color and terrain are the best I’ve seen.
As far as great design, but purposely not beautiful in the conventional sense, I’d say Fireheart Rise.
All the jungle ones are my favourites. Also the sylvari lands with their exotic plants and bioluminescence, those are the places i stop to admire the most.

Honestly this game has some of the most beautiful scenery out of any game I played I don’t think I could pick one, and also the music is well done too and does add to the atmosphere.
All the snowy zones, it like skyrim on steroids.
i see some people like the mountain areas, im more into the wooded and jungle type areas, but when i think back to all the areas i can remember the names of i enjoyed the most was timberline falls. it is pretty nice.
I have only done 25% of the map but I love the Harathi Hinterlands. I just love its atmosphere.
I also like Frostgorge and Plains of Ashford.
…In fact, they are all good :P (the ones I have been to so far).
Anything in the Norn areas. They are amazing zones.
Kessex Hills
I’m a sucker for human stuff, and I like lakes and the odd waterfall and hills.
Hidden Garden all the way. Mount Maelstrom, defeat one of the keepers and you gain entrance to it.
I also really like mount maelstrom, I think the volcano is done amazingly.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Hidden Garden all the way. Mount Maelstrom, defeat one of the keepers and you gain entrance to it.
This exactly, Hidden Garden is my favorite place in the whole game and it’s especially cool because I stumbled upon it totally by accident.
Nice post, I have to say Hidden Garden for me. I have came across several zone that for me, I thought was very impressive work visually.
Caledon Forest wins my vote. Every section feels like it has a uniqueness to it in terms of assets (lighting and texture) and terrain. In general, all the starting zones are very interesting and offer a lot of mood contrast in their various sub-areas which the higher zones tend to lack.
I find the Heart of the Mists so awesome. You can duel NPCs, look at every weapon and armor setin your locker and be bored to death.
I take back what I said earlier.
I think the most beautiful zone is Wayfarer Foothills.
And the most interesting zone is without doubt Kessex Hills. There are so many things going on in that zone, it’s crazy.
But my favourite zone is Gendarran Fields.

Frostgorge Sound with Timberline Falls coming in second for me. Not only do I love the snowy regions of Frostorge, but the underwater places are the most beautiful of all underwater areas in the game in my opinion.
To be honest however, they are not really zones, but Hoelbrak and Divinity’s Reach are my two favorite places to explore and see.
I like the map Snowden Drifts, the snowy forests there are beautiful to wander in. Frostgorge Sound is also a fav with the Kodan and deep seas. Also a fan of The Ruin City of Arah dungeon, with its wide open canyons and disc shape pillars (?) I miss Zephyr Sanctum / Labyrinthine Cliffs though.
Consensus seems to be Timberline Falls, and I agree. It’s a frontier zone, so there are no major settlements and very little traffic; just beautiful, open wilderness. Also a great place to farm hard wood and platinum.
The most pleasant zone is Queensdale. I completely understand why people spend all day there, boss train aside. There’s plenty to do, the landscape is gorgeous, and the human architecture and activity are very comforting. I like Divinity’s for the same reason.
“Every zone” is also a good answer. Take a map of Tyria, close your eyes, and throw a dart. Where did it land? It doesn’t matter. There’s something beautiful and interesting there.
I personally love the Shiverpeaks zones. I’d take mountains over jungle or arid zones any time. Haven’t visited Frostgorge Sound yet, I’m curious how it looks. It’s hard to pick one of the zones, but I’d go with Timberline Falls.
I love the winter zones too. But I feel that the terrains and zones from eye of the north look better then some of the shiverpeaks we have here. I like the plains of ashford a lot too. Fireheart rise has a nice gw1 feel to it.
Queensdale, Timberline Falls, Kessex Hills, in that order.
Can’t stand the Charr areas.
Most interesting?
Definitely Caledon Forest. That place has 4 jumping puzzles, 2 mini dungeons, and even an unfinished jumping puzzle to explore if you know how to get there.
Most beautiful?
I’d have to go with Mount Maelstrom for the wide variety of scenery from inside a volcano, to asura architecture, from jungle, to underwater krait city.
I find just about all of the underwater areas gorgeous.
timberline falls for some reason makes me feel so peaceful when im there. i kind of like brisben woodlands maybe cause its usually empty of people
I haven’t even visited the mountain zones yet (currently leveling my second major character) and mountains/snow are almost always my favorite area in video games. I am so excited that the priory has led me into the mountain areas!
Timberline falls is beautiful, however, there’s nothing to do there.
Definitely Timberline Falls, it brings out the adventure feel in gw2 IMO. Good thing I’m working in map completion there! I like it cuz is not only snow and there is a variety of different areas, mainly cliffs, forsts, and hills/mountains.
I think the Bloodtide Coast, Southsun, Timberline Falls, Mount Maelstrom, and the Plains of Ashford are all pretty in their own way. Lion’s Arch is far and away my favorite city.
Really, the only areas I don’t like are the ones infected by dragon corruption—and even then, corrupted ice and Kralkatorrik’s crystals have a twisted kind of beauty.
By Ogden’s hammer, what savings!
This game is a bit weird for me, mainly because I agree with the mentions for Timberline Falls above. I tend to find metropolises more “beautiful” in MMOs, but I enjoy the scenery in Falls a lot.
I’d have to vote for Hidden Garden and Scavenger’s Chasm though, even if they’re not technically zones. I just like the views from both :P
I live in Colorado, nothing in this game will be more beautiful than that.
YOU PEOPLE NEED TO GO OUTSIDE MORE!

I live in Arizona (the desert/hot part :P). Any scenery in an MMO looks better than outside.
Orr, especially Cursed Shore.

Frostgorge Sound. Can’t get enough of those ice ships.
Though I gotta say, Gendarran Fields with all its flowers also ranks way up there, in particular the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

No one voting for Orr??
All those undead chickens!?
I love blood tide
Brisban wildlands has my vote
I started a similar topic many moons ago, it’s well buried and covered in dust now lol.
I think all zones are beautiful in their own way, I love them all really but ofc some more than others. When I started my own thread about this, I said my fav map was Frostgorge Sound, that hasn’t changed really since no new maps have been added, except Southsun Cove, but I can’t remember if that was b4 or after I started that topic. And I do really like Southsun Cove too, but it’s been spoilt somewhat for me since the last update there…way too many mobs and most of the outposts are inaccessible due to the constant invasion by the masses of Karka.
I even like Orr maps, the art there is amazing. Just wish they would get rid of those environmental effects and thin out the mobs a bit more, so I can actually take a bit of time to appreciate it without having to fight for my life all the time. Although the mobs have been thinned out somewhat since launch, it could do with a bit more imo, especially in certain areas where there’s still way too many close together. After all, we supposed to have cleansed Orr but the density of mobs and those environmental effects certainly don’t give you that impression at all.
Caledon forest is soooo beatiful!
