Most desired class for Dungeons and fractals?
Ranger.
Bearbow OP.
Elementalist.
Fiery Rush.
Full melee Ranger since August 2012
Five signet warrior. Best build in the game. You don’t even need to dodge. Just stand there.
elementalist – extremely high dps via fiery rush, might stacking
guardian – aegis, reflect (well… maybe not so much post-patch), stability, pulls, condition cleanse
warrior – might, fury, banners, empower allies
thief – stealth, dps
mesmer – reflect, pug carrier
ranger – spotter, frost spirit, reflect
engineer – pug carrier, does everything
necro – dps, weak support
most desirable is … whichever one sounds the most interesting to you.
Guardian. Don’t even kid yourself.

You forgot to list fury under ele and ranger, and blinds under thief. Nothing guts those pesky ascalonian warriors quite like a thief with off hand pistol and that one projectile block/blind wall.
If you have an Ele, Guardian, Warrior, Thief or Mesmer you’ll be more than welcome in pretty much everything.
Ranger is as good as the other profession, but only with 1 build and most of them don’t like to play that build so you have a high proportion or bad ranger. That give the profession a bad reputation so even if you play a good ranger and bring probably more to the part than a bad warrior or a bad elementalist, they could still kick, which is sad.
Engineer is a good profession that can do everything, but there is always someone else to do it better.
Necro is also a good profession, but the support it bring is more PvP oriented and he’s more of a single target DPS, making him the weakest profession of them all in PvE. Still, I would take a good necro anytime in my party (except for organized guild speed run).
You want pistol thief, rifle warrior, bearbow ranger, decap engi and scepter mesmer.
don’t do any of this for dungeons

making a mesmer literally blocks you from taking part in any speed run ever

Well it depend. If you go for the perfect compo no. Even if Mesmer is the best for ccing bosses in the right place, other profession can still do that. Timewrap is useful, but not as needed as it use to be. And by the time a mesmer reach is DPS peak with 3 phantams, the fight is usually over. But you can still enjoy a speed run with a Mesmer. It’s a game afterall, i’m playing only record runs. As long as the ppl that play with me make at least an effort to play better build and improve, that’s all I ask.
