Most fun Elementalist weapon set?
I like every combo on the ele but the Staff, and not a huge fan of dagger/focus but I’ll use it in a fight where DD isn’t cutting it.
As for the speed boost, there are quite a few ways. You can equip signet of air for a 25% speed boost, you can also take the Windborn dagger trait and a pair of daggers for the same effect. Or, the elementalist has several ways of permanently gaining the 33% swiftness boon, principal among them being signets and daggers with the combination of Fire’s Embrace and Zephyr’s Boon.

I play staff ele but I also have a scepter/dagger ele. My staff ele is fun because I find it extremely versatile (I can be supportive if I need to be, but I can also do some great damage too). My scepter/dagger ele I enjoy because it’s good fun stacking might and then dealing some insane damage.
Eles have the option to have constant +25% speed boost by having Signet of Air on in their utility skill bar.
You can also get other temporary speed boosts:
For staff ele, you can increase your speed to +33% by using number 4 on air attunement (Windborne Speed). You can also make a swiftness field by planting the air number 5 skill (Static Field) and then blasting it (e.g. Arcane Wave).
For x/dagger ele, number 4 on air (Ride the Lightning) makes you dash forwards providing you don’t have any enemy targeted (otherwise you will dash towards the enemy). Number 5 on air (updraft) will also give you a temporary swiftness.
You can increase swiftness duration by putting trait points in Arcana and also increase your movement speed if you put at last 1 trait point in air (a minor trait called Zephyr’s speed- if you’re attuned to air you will move faster). Also, this trait ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Inscription_ ) can give you swiftness under the right circumstances).
This gives you quite a few options when it comes to boosting your speed!
I find scepter/dagger to be the most fun (for PVE). Dagger 5 skill in air will also give swiftness. If you’re using the # 4 skill to get around, I recommend going to your options panel and turning off autotargeting… Really sucks to be running from enemies and use air 4, only to realize auto target is on and you’re bounced back to the middle of the mobs
Staff can be useful if you need lots of cc. It’s the most fitting for an ele IMO, but I only use it in wvw, or if I need to play more defensively, or if I’m just plain lazy and don’t feel like throwing a bunch of combos down.
d/d for sure. It’s original, it uses the least tab-targeting out of all the sets, your weaving in and out of every element (well, maybe not so much earth), and combat is just so involving.
Unlike staff where you just sit there spamming 1 and 2 all day or scepter where you’re just spamming the hammer autoattack most of the time.
Staff for longer range & mob battles. Dagger/dagger for ‘close combat’. Water skill on the dagger is good because it heals you during the fight.
for pve:
i’d say either d/f or d/d, with an edge to d/f because i enjoy the active defensive skills the focus brings.
staff has all the tools to be as fun in its various elements, but staying in one attunement (fire) most of the time is far more rewarding than actively swapping between elements.
hate scepter….so i don’t use it unless i’m built for d/x and need to range. doesn’t feel fluid and is far too “single-target-oriented” for my taste.

Most fun? D/D hands down. I’m fond of S/D as well.
That doesn’t mean I use it all the time though, Staffy elementalist for WvW is just pure awesome.
Each set has it’s uses and functions, with plenty of builds out there for each.
For the toast!
I like D/D also. The rest I can leave behind quite readily, though I’ll use staff if I want a ranged option.
don’t forget if you are trying to stack swiftness too, you can use the heal while WIND attuned to add additional swiftness (I use dagger 5 [turned backwards so the dodge doesn’t lose distance hehe] + the heal).
Before that I’d also leave the norn racial elites on, those dashes are funner than FGS (Well they were before the ‘feature pack’ broke em 2 years later)
Scepter and Dagger with mainly Air has been the only set I’ve found fun.
They are all kinda fun really. Staff is gonna give you great damage with plenty of combo fields for you and others to use (provided you know when is appropriate.) D/D for good cleaving damage and might/fury stacking. S/F is high single-target damage and is Ele’s best option for sustain. S/D has the same single target damage with much less survive than S/F but can also stack might/fury very well. D/f will give you the cleave damage and better survive than D/D but stacking might/fury is much tougher. D/D is the fastest paced. Staff is slow but does the best damage and doesn’t require finger acrobatics. It really just depends on your style and capabilities.
I’m not a huge fan of the Elementalist profession, but the little I played I enjoyed D/D the most.
I find staff the most fun, personally, and anything using focus or relying on conjured weapons the least fun. But all weapons are viable for ele, so do whatever you like ^^
You’re only lvl 16 right now, which means you don’t have access to any traits, and those can be very important to how well each weapon seems to work.
