Hey, I’m new and wondering which class do you generally see the most of. I don’t like maining classes that make up 1/3rd of a game’s population so if there is one I’d like to know please.

D/D Elementalist takes no skill but is good at everything in the game.
Mesmer is unfun to play against and does everything better than thieves.
Hoping those two get gutted with nerfs

I’ve been seeing far more thieves in PVP than ele and engi combined the last few runs through it for me. Maybe it shifts at higher ratings? (i’m far from good at it)

PVE it’s a lot of guards/war/ranger, dungeons lots of guard/war/ele.

All that said I don’t think there is a very large imbalance at all, at least not compared to other games where you end up wtih situations where people play like 70% of the healers are a certain class, 70% of the DPS are a certain class, and same with tank, here things seem much more diverse. Except when you get into speed running dungeons, then it’s like 2 Ele, 1 War, 1 Thief and either another ele or a mesmer.

There’s no game wide overall number imbalance that’s strong enough to matter.

There are certain niches where some classes are less welcome. E.g. in big zerg WvW, a zerg of 100 players really only wants 2 mesmers. In dungeons, rangers and necros can find themselves unwelcome, 1 warrior is optimal but 2 is ok, double eles is good.

You don’t hear guardians and eles complain much, and everybody complains, so they’re probably a pretty safe bet…

…for now, until the expansion turns it upside down.

Well META seems shifted a lot

2 ele, 1 S/* LH, 1 staff DPS, (2 staffs will work as well)
1 warrior for banners/might upkeep, Phalanx Strength GS and whatever.
1 or 2 guards to make sure the ele’s are safe. S/F GS
0 or 1 other proffesion often thief for invisibility, or sometimes mesmer for portal… feedback. even necro engineer and ranger have a place.

For 25 might, fury , +320 power +170 precision, added ferocityand a resbanner, 1 or 2 walls of reflection 2 or 4 stability

Also the dmg has shifted.
MOST: ele/thief/ranger/engineer/guard/warrior/necro/mesmer: LEAST

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
