More like: I don’t like the taste. smell, or sight of chocolate so I would rather not have it introduced in a fashion where I would have to see and smell it while the sweet shop reduced production of the things I do like in order to add chocolate.

so vegans can declare that a restaurant is officially vegan and chase out all the meat eaters in that restaurant?

No player is chasing anyone out of anywhere. Players have no such power over each other.

No players are declaring that GW2 does not have mounts and that the game was not designed with them in mind.

Anet decided to create the game without mounts. Anet decided to include ubiquitous instantaneous travel in the form of waypoints. That does not mean that they would not be willing to add mounts as an option at some point, but it does mean that they created a game without mounts and in which mounts would be of limited utility.

Here are a few facts:

1) everyone playing this game chose to buy (or received as a gift I suppose) a game that does not include mounts.

2) pro-mount players are asking that this choice be taken away from anti-mount players.

3) anti-mount players are asking that the original choice be maintained.

And keep in mind that I support the idea of adding mounts, so long as the impact on other players can be minimized. I am not opposed to the addition of mounts, I am opposed to attacks against players rather than arguments supporting your position.

My stance:

I’m not against mounts being introduced into the game. Technically, “mounts” already exist in the form of the Witch’s Broomstick and the Sonic Tunneling Tool. My only restrictions would be that:

1. Mounts be limited to a 33% speed boost at most.

2. You cannot use your combat skills while mounted.

3. If you are attacked while mounted, you immediately dismount and enter combat.

4. You cannot activate your mount while in combat.

Thus, mounts would be limited basically to a cosmetic option for moving around.

I don’t disagree with mounts existing at all. Stop painting me as being rabidly anti-mount or a hater or whatever label you want to lay on my feet.

I met some of the people discussing this halfway by going “you know what, I don’t see the harm in it being purely a cosmetic issue with no bonuses whatsoever” and all I see is people trying to heap more drama on the coals and poke people into personal attacks.

I don’t have a problem with mounts.

I think they have a lot of issues, some of which are technical, some of which may very well be a problem. I think most glaring of all the issues is the community and how they have a really strong feel against them being added. And how apparently, the nice devs of ArenaNet agree and would rather not add them.

I don’t agree with the concept the inclusion of mounts would be beneficial for the game, I only agree that in a certain example (“cosmetic item you can put on or put away with no actual benefit statistics or gameplay wise”) . . . it couldn’t necessarily hurt.

And I don’t want the thread locked because people don’t agree with me. I want it locked because it’s descending into the same people volleying the same generalizations at anyone who steps into the topic and there’s no shortage of people on both sides more than willing to drive this to “direct to trashcan”-ville just to get it off the forums.

In short – it should be locked because all rational discussion has been exhausted. As is demonstrated by you doing nothing but parroting my post back as a personal attack.
