Guild Wars 2

I never post on the forum, but it saddened me to see such negative feedback on mounts. I can’t understand you guys. I, personally, never liked mounts in mmorpgs and I never wanted them in guild wars. I always told people “mounts have nothing to do in guild wars” and here I am, loving my experience on the raptor. It’s fast, smooth, and most of all, it feels special. Some of you guys were upset about the way the raptor turns, I on the contrary love this. I love the way this feels like I’m riding a beast and not incarnating it. I love the animations, they are awesome and so smooth I’d like to thank the guys that worked on it. I’m still a bit scared that everyone I see will always be on a mount when Path of Fire will be out, and that’s one of the things I never liked about mounts : why move on foot if you have a mount ? But that’s another debate (and contrary to one of the posts here, I really believe that dismounting when interracting is a great way to reduce mount-overcrowding). Right now I can say that I love riding the raptor. I’m not even playing the beta because I want to experience it further with the new elite specs, so I’m just running around on my mount, then log out and play with my regular characters, and then log back in just to run around with the raptor a bit again.

So, just a post to say kuddos to the teams that worked on it. I know it’s often the negative feedback that are loud and visible because when you like something you don’t necessarily need to talk about it, but I really hope you guys at Arena Net still believe the way you made mounts move was the right one. The only thing concerning I admit is the motion sickness issue some of the players brought up already on the forum. I don’t have an opinion about that because I don’t experience motion sickness, but I really hope it won’t change too much the current experience.

I was one of those vocal players against mounts, and to be honest, I am still against them in Guild Wars. Never needed them in GW1, nor in GW2.

But this? These mounts are amazing. They feel like beasts you ride, they serve a function and have personality. (As a dog person…that raptor is absolutely fantastic)

You dismount them for interaction and the way the raptor winds up to throttle into full speed, then slides a bit when stopping…absolutely fantastic, and this is what I think is mounts done right. Better than any MMO.

I really hope the Anet team doesn’t change the above mentioned things about the mounts. People just need to get used to something different, same as I had to do with these mounts in my beloved GW.

The mounts are fantastic the animations and the way they accelerate etc. It feels alive I simply can’t stop playing the demo because core Tyria feels weird without my scaled friend I wish the other mounts were available in the demo too, I’m curious about their idle animations.

Agree with u guys. The Mounts are amazing!!! The feeling in their movements, the sense of weight and the raptor being a different being from u’r character… The animations… I love Evert bit of it.
And I was afraid that Mounts would move as clunky as an upscaled shark or something. I’m so happy I was wrong!

I, too, was rather against mounts. They weren’t part of Guild Wars lore and I’m admittedly a bit of a traditionalist.

Then I saw the announcement video, and they did look pretty nice. I became intrigued.

Then yesterday, after playing the demo, the raptor mount was actually amazing. Very amazing!

I’m sold.

I love the mounts in GW2. They add alot to the game and they are fun to use and navigate through the desert. There are always haters everytime.. same when HoT released and everyone hated the 3 layer maps because they think earth is flat xD

Only tried raptor so far yet.. and can’t imagine how fun the other mounts will be.

I feel the same. I am in love with the mounts. I wasn’t a huge fan of the raptor(I like cute things and thought the raptor isnt’ cute. Don’t judge! xD). But after riding the raptor and seeing the animation and the idle animation…I was wrong! Even the raptor ist awesome and totally cute! The movement of the raptor feels so real! And it seems like the raptor has his own mind and isn’t just a prop. I can’t wait to see the other mounts in action

Gotta agree with you guys. Its insanly funny just riding around with the raptor. GW2 will have by far the best mounts i have ever seen in any game. Srly good job devs!!!

I wasn’t terribly excited about them, but I think they are going to add some fun game play, and if I ever don’t want to be on one, then I get off.

Do hope they come up with some solutions for the MS folks, though.

I agree with the OP. I was also kinda meh about the mounts idea, but the idle animations of the raptor have essentially already sold it to me. Overall it seems pretty well executed.

Was there ever any note on them creating skins for mounts? Multicolored feathery one for the raptor for example? They could make heapo money with that…

Anyway like with gliding, soon we won’t be able to cope without…

I hope they will add more dye options and skins. I would pay for different skins!
