Q:

I’m pretty sure someone else has asked about this before but I cannot find the right thread for the life of me.

so I wanna make some good screenshots of my characters, but either the camera is 1) too far away, 2) zooms in to the face even though i want to see the whole body or 3) simply so close it gets into first-person-mode .

is there any way to move the camera freely, so i can zoom to my chara as much as i want and not focus the cam onto the face? (Action camera and the “free camera” option are not what I’m looking for)

A:

Excelsior.

Since I create collages of my characters as wallpaper for my computers, I know the pain. The simple answer: No.

There are some sliders which could help you on the lower picture (I think it’s about the character’s height) but there is onfurtunately no such option like a free camera (FF14 has one AFAIK). Funny enough, there is a weird “move your head” way to pan the camera (right mouse button – your char then really looks into the direction of the camera instead of just doing the 1000-mile-stare) but no such thing as free camera.

Also, note that the lighting is ALWAYS the same; the light comes ALWAYS from top right, no matter when time of the virtual day it is or how you turn… I gotta say, this and the fact we turn bald when putting on hats are the two gripes I have with the game.

To be fair, as Asura I have it a bit easier, but you are playing a beanpole, and that’s like taking a picture of a giraffe with a cellphone low-angle lens in 4:3.

Zedexx, sly Asura Thief/Assassin
and politically highly incorrect. (#Asuracist)

Alright, I was sure something as simple as a free camera would be somewhere in the game and that I just couldn’t find it.
And you’re right, the baldness is a serious issue too. Guess we’re gonna have to deal with all that for now.

Thanks for the quick answer, Zedek!
(and nice giraffe-comparison xD )
