Move gate of FotM, please
I agree the gate should move as long as it’s not too hard to reach. My reasons are selfish: my guild likes to RP in LA and the longer it takes to get into main server, the longer it takes to start our meetups. Overflow is a good way to handle things mostly but does little when you want more than 5 people gathering at a time.
I agree with this wholeheartedly. I already had enough problems with Lions Arch due to an aging computer but now the zone takes so long to load and is so laggy that I go to The Heart of the Mists to use the Mystic Forge and to that Pact camp in the zone with the volcano for the trading post and banks.
Having the gate in Lion’s Arch was about as hare-brained as almost everything else that came out of this patch.
Actually, it lets you join people in overflows easier, so you can group up for the dungeon cross server.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.

Yes but you cannot easily communicate across servers or easily switch overflows at will.
How about making a chat channel that only shows up in Lions Arch and is cross server? This would allow people to more easily form groups.
A method of switching overflows, similar to what was in the first Guild Wars, would also go a long way to solving this issue.

If it was somewhere else, we won’t even get overflow servers to join. What they really should do is fix it so its like a regular dungeon entrance. THEN move it elsewhere.

It should be like PvP.
The gate in LA should take you to a lobby like area similar to heart of the mists.
Here you can repair, buy/sell at vendors, access your bank, and trade in your relics.
This area would be used for forming groups before moving onto the various fractals.
There. Now there’s less issues with overflows when trying to do fractals, since everyone there is there to do fractals. And it’s easier to use map chat with fewer people spamming with idiotic discussions of religion and politics.
This idea I can get on board with. Or at the very least get to work on the LFG tool or even a LFG chat channel. I’m sitting in LA now and for every one line of actual conversation trying to be had there are eight lines of LFG spam.
It’s reminiscent of before they had the trade channel in GW, when it was impossible to actually chat with everyone else because of all of the WTS WTB spam.

This was a huge problem in WoW, 5 beautiful cities yet everything needed was in 1,
If all cities are even most people will still flock to the most convenient one (I.E Ironforge in Vanilla WoW) but allows others to enjoy the other cities without losing access to important resources
I dont understand why devs dont add all resources to all major cities, portals/gates etc
I’d personally never leave The Grove

As for putting portals to all the other cities in the various cities I believe that’s a lore decision. Humans and Charr do not get along very well and I think neither race would accept a portal into the heart of their territory. I can easily see the Sylvari allowing such portals to be erected in/near The Grove but I don’t see the Asura doing the same with Rata Sum. They’ve been forcibly ejected from one home before and I imagine they want to fortify their new one heavily. That probably has something to do with why it’s so physically inaccessible.
With that said I agree that it feels like a waste that Lions Arch is the only place to go to find things you need. Rata Sum does feel like an appropriate place for the Fractal portal as it’s an Asura project to begin with. In my opinion city should (eventually) have a special thing that’s only in that city. Lions Arch has the dungeon vendors, Mystic Forge, and portals. It’s a trade hub and neutral grounds for negotiations between the races. Let Rata Sum have the Fractal Gate.
Just move it to Karka Land rather than in LA. Nobody is going out there anyway once you do the content. It’s one of the most boring zones on the map. Back to Orr or Frostgorge for me.

Probably the easiest map to get Orichalcum from.

I get them from all 3 maps though, so it hardly matters.
Keep in mind that the portal from the Mists to Lion’s Arch also puts more players in LA. Moving the portal around, and adding in the other 5 cities may help to split the population up, instead of cramming everyone into LA.
But yeah, +1 for moving the portal to Rata Sum.
I agree. If you insist on putting it on a City, Rata Sum is the perfect place for it story-wise.
Yeah, the other cities are really beautiful, Rata Sum being my favorite of them all. It does feel like a waste that there’s hardly any reason to go to any of them aside from Lion’s Arch.
I’m sure the people at Anet who worked so hard designing and implementing the other 5 cities will appreciate it if more people go there and enjoy them.

The gate is fine where it’s at, seriously. Lion’s Arch is the hub of the game, and I’d be more worried when it becomes empty.
Good idea, I think. Rana Sum is more suitable for entrance.

Empty world with only one inhabited location is worse.
The proper solution is a novelty called a LFG tool so people doesn’t have to spamchat with all those fractal levels.
But since we aren’t paying $15/mth…
I think, it’s not only problem of spamming. I really want to see other cities of Tyria more inhabited.

…Which was a “problem” nobody cared even before FOTM.
how about erecting more gates in more places?
have a fotm gate in each of the cities
- rata sum
- hoelbrak
- black citadel
- the groove
- divinity reach
might as well throw in a gate at heart of the mists too.

Agreed.
