I just acquired a Bifrost for my necro last week and I am wondering if after having equipped it, will it ever be possible to move it to a new character? I would really like to try out some alts but I don’t want to lose all of the work I put into this. I have heard some things about transmuting making weapons account bound. Does this work, and if so, is this a bug that will be patched and won’t work in the future?

Currently, the items are soulbound once you equip them. I doubt this will ever change. If you haven’t equipped it yet, I would mess around with the alts FIRST and then select your favorite.

I suppose you could do the transmute trick with a white item, but I wouldn’t dare do it with either of mine out of pure fear.

I think when you transmute something it becomes soulbound if it isn’t already.

Collin has mentioned that the plan is eventually to make legendaries Acountbound on Equip so that you can use them on multiple characters, but I haven’t heard much about this lately.

To me this would be inline with a lot of how the game is currently. I hope they add this in, and I will probably never have a legendary myself. I don’t feel like investing the time. I want it for those who have gone through it because it is ridiculous the time and gold invested to have to do that twice…or three times.

Would be a good addition as it would encourage more hard core players to get more.

I believe there is a way to make the legendaries account bound. But I don’t know if it’s classed as an exploit.

I think by using the transmute you get them acc bound.
Then when you transmute into another exotic they turn to soulbound again… I think…

I just dont know how this trick will translate when they upgrade the stats to ascended…

get a white item. Get a transmutation stone (for level 80). Use the transmutation stone, put your legendary. Put the white item. Choose the legendary skin. Choose the white stats.
Now, your legendary is account bound. If you want better stats you need to transmute it with an exotic weapon.
