Movement Speed
I’m more worried as an engineer about how every class has a magical seal that lets them move faster, ooooOOOoooo ahhhhhhhh. yet when we get a trait that increases our movement rate, it’s only IN COMBAT and doesn’t stack with anything. Whatever I think I’ll check out MoP now. As an Engineer I’m tired of being a second class citizen, I have to deal with that in real life shouldn’t have to deal with it in game.
Hey mesmers got “more reliable swiftness” by getting a 12.5% chance on a random buff of a signet to earn it. Game designers and their visions…
If you give most classes a passive +25% speedboost, why would you be surprised that the other classes want that too… It is obviously imbalanced in Wv3 too.

After playing ele and thief, I can honestly say my slow mo running mesmer frustrates me actually. Why did they not get a trait for some sort of run speed? Yes I know we have the focus skill…..but it’s actually really not all that.
I’m sorry for you guys, but the thread is not related to any specific profession, just to movement speed cap that can affect everyone, since everyone can have swiftness + superior rune of speed
I’m reading about a movement speed hard cap @ +33% of normal running speed.
On the wiki there is nothing about that.
There is also a rune that give +7% speed while under the effect of swiftness…
Is there something officiale about a movement speed cap ?
thanks
Can you link the source from where you read it?
Swiftness + rune of speed are giving max 40% bonus movement speed
Swiftness, skills, traits and signet passives don’t stack, only strongest bonus is applied
Engineer’s Slick Shoes toolbelt doubles movement speed in relation to basic combat movement speed. Regardless of current boons/traits and combat status, it’s always providing same speed as basic swiftness out of combat
It has been discussed on the thief board.
With this patch Fleet Shadow should increase speed while stealthed from +33% to +50%,
but, being stealthed and using that trait makes the thief move at the same speed of someone else with swiftness., but in combat it seems to be faster; so someone wrote about a cap at 133% of normal ot of combat speed.
I was wondering if anyone tested the Superior rune of speed and, if it works as expected. In that case the “new” trait is just broken.
Also an official answer will be very appreciated.
Would GW2 please either allow Runes of Speed to increase your speed over 133% or change the (6) to something useful:
(6) Reduce duration of cripple, chill and immobilize by 50%.
or
(6) WPs are now free.
