I currently play on an EU server but will be moving to America irl. Because of the time difference I am considering to switch to a North American server, but I have heard that even though the server populations are mostly ‘very high’ there aren’t many people around. Is this true? Would it be best to just stay on an EU server? As 1800 gems is a lot.& if so does anyone know if any EU servers have many American players?

Well, there’s nothing stopping you from staying on your current server after you’ve moved to test things out and see how the player base is?

If you can deal with roleplay, there’s more than enough population on Tarnished Coast. If you want to grief RP, please don’t come, you’d sure hate to get banned after spending all that money to transfer

But indeed, you might be able to stick with your friends and not notice any issues. RL move first, then think about virtual things imo.

Why do you have to transfer ? If you are only interested in PvE, you could simply guest.

Oh whoops totally forgot about that. Hmm all I know is that in the afternoon (in Europe) the NA servers aren’t totally empty and if you want to do something, you won’t have to much trouble finding someone. Aside from randomly exploring a map maybe.

How about you just wait, stick to your server and see how it goes?
Or, ask support, you know, maybe they’ll do a transfer for you, seeing as you’re really moving irl and not just ‘server-hopping’.

I live in the US. For the first half of GW2’s life, I played on an EU server. Truly, the only issue that I had is when I played late into the evening, there weren’t a lot of people online, but first thing in the morning, and in the US early evening, it was pretty nice.

My hours at work changed drastically one day, so I moved to a US server, and it’s good for me. I guest around a lot to play with some friends on other servers, but in general, my server (Jade Quarry) is pretty full most of the time that I am online.

My advice t you is to move IRL first, and get the game up and running, and see if your home server is alive and kicking at the times you will be online before you spend the gems to transfer. If you decide to transfer, Jade Quarry, Blackgate, and Tarnished Coast are the most populated and high-profile that I have seen. JQ and Blackgate are pretty good in WvW as well. TC is the unofficial RP server.

Good luck to you!

The thing is and I don’t know if this applies still…
if you purchased an EU version of the game, it’s locked to EU, so you won’t be able to play on your account if you move to USA.
You will have to purchase a new game, or hopefully contact the support and see if an arrangement can be met.

This is not correct. There will be no issue playing on an already registered account but there could be problems with like buying gems (support can help there).

As long as the game is registered in the correct region, you can access the game from anywhere in the world.

Yes you are correct. My mistake for not checking the FAQ. Here are all the infos for people who have any misconceptions about this like I had:

I already made a forum post about this issue before I made this post and all is good Thank you though!
