Q:

Seems to me that most of the bots that I see (and report) fall into one of two categories.

1) 1 or more stand alone accounts running a botting program/script.
or
2) Several accounts that appear to be following a main ‘player’, so called Multi-boxing (having multiple computers, with multiple accounts, being operated by one human player).

Under the TOS, category 1 is verboten, and said accounts are (sometimes) terminated.

What happens (or should happen) for category #2?

They should be banned with the rest of them. Anet has posted this in another thread that they are against multiboxing i believe.

Since there is no /follow (far as I can tell), a multi boxer would have to use some sort of third party program with bot elements?

Ban em, imo.

For me it depends on whether they’re attempting an exploit. If it’s one guy attempting to farm gold by running multiple accounts, then sure, ban them. But if it’s a lonely dude who’s bought five copies of the game just so he can awkwardly attempt dungeons without making friends then there’s no real problem; it’s no different from him having four friends who’ve promised to give him all their loot.

But I think that would fall under Anets terms of abuse since hes making 5x the amount a normal person would make in the same amount of time. Its different when 5 people are all putting equal effort in and getting the items as opposed to one person putting in their 20% and still getting the exact same amount of items.

I believe a player is only allowed one account under the ToS. Making it, against the “rules”.

I don’t see how any human being is going to single handily control 5 different characters in a dungeon successfully without the help of a program of some kind.
