So, a thing we’ve got in a few places is NPC characters that are in some way taking care of one another. Somewhere in the Shiverpeaks (can’t remember specifically where), there’s an orphanage run by a Sylvari who feels depressed because she can’t have children of her own. In Gendarran Fields there’s an event chain where a norn lionguard is basically a father figure to a young asura and wants your help in getting her back. In Pre-scarlet LA, there was also a pair of children, one hman and one charr, playing together.

This makes me curious why we haven’t seen anything to the tune of a multi-racial romantic relationship yet. Now, I’m not going to expect there to be something like a human/charr relationship (though I’m certain the Legions would love that), but Sylvari, humans, and norn are all similar enough in appearance at the very least that I could see a relationship forming, and it’s stated that Sylvari have no problems flirting with other races.

I think this is actually a good chance for some ambient dialogue in the new Lion’s Arch, particularly if one side of the couple in question is a Sylvari, as it’d let us get a look at the long lasting prejudices in Lion’s Arch by talking to these NPCs.

I dunno. Just a thought that popped into my head.

Rubbing up against a sylvari would probably hurt – bark scratches and scrapes. Gremlins would probably be split in half by most of the other races. Cat kittenes are barbed – wonder if Charr have that.

No breeding would occur obviously but there’s no reason they couldn’t still do stuff – over looking the possible physical discomfort features above.

Well, not all Sylvari would have bark. Some are made of soft plant material. In fact some plants are incredibly soft and velvety to the touch – you know like petals or whatever.

Erm, I gotta be honest. I didn’t think at this point in my life I’d be discussing sexy times between plant people and humans. Or whatever. OMG. lol.

Back to the point though, yeah I can see it happening. Sylvari are very curious and uninhibited. Humans are fairly liberal too. Maybe the Norn? I dunno. I could totally see two people being attracted to each other and, you know, trying stuff.

Sylvari are probably asexual so I think that their love would be more a thing of affection and emotion. Even so, other races could get creative with them, I just don’t think that it would be a thing for the sylvari.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw cross-race couples in the future. There is lore….somewhere, I forget where I found it a long time back (like back before or around launch), stating that all 5 races are sexually compatible, but that cannot cross breed. IE: no half charr half humans or w/e running around.

The only reason I remember that tidbit of info was because of my reaction to it at the time, lol.

Before scarlet there were a norn couple that used to walk around the crafting area and 2 female sylvari talked to each other about the appearance of the norns, I’ll try to find the script and post here. But yeah, an interracial romance can be a thing for sure.

Why limit it to playable races? Imagine what the child of a Charr and Quaggan would look like. Norn and Skritt? Asura and Tengu?

This could be a lot of fun!

You don’t have to shag someone to have an intimate relationship with them.

In fact, I’d love to see more inter-species families. Because there are very few bonds greater than that of child and (biological or non-biological) parent.

I didn’t buy the boxed collector’s edition, so that’s not where I got it from. It was an online article, that much I recall. I just don’t know who it was with.

I disgree. Intimacy is about bonding and sharing your life with someone, the good and the bad. I’m asexual and have been in a relationship for nearly a year now, and I’d say we’re pretty intimate even if we don’t have sex.

Or you’re saying that couples who never consummated the union for whatever reason or couples who have stopped having sex for whatever reason are actually not in an intimate relationship?

I swear I’ve seen an Asura/Human couple in the game somewhere before. Nothing explicit but I assumed they were based on how they talked to each other. Maybe I read too much into it though.
