Mursaat Appearance
Are those Mursaat? Don’t really look that much like the ones in GW1

most enemies in GW2 don’t look like the GW1 variant……
And Charr stood upright in GW1.
I do think they are Mursaat because even thought they don’t look exactly the same with all of the pointy things, you’ll notice they look like an updated version. They float and all those pointy things seem to flow down. Plus, we don’t know for sure if they are extinct or not.

Fair enough.
My guess is that they will appear to be on our side and may possibly be betrayed in the end. Maybe we’ll be akin to the white mantle, thinking we’re doing something noble but in the end making a huge mistake?
Or maybe they help us get our new skills and become part of a new kind of pact?
Oh, and a link between the two in case people aren’t aware: Glint foretold the demise of the Mursaat.
Creatures in the trailer certainly did look like Mursaat. I’d say they looked like Mursaat more than anything else, even if they’re not exactly the same as they were in GW1.
From the timing, narration, and visuals, however, I got the impression they were allies, which is all sorts of mysterious if they do turn out to be Mursaat. Hrm.
They look like Mursaat to me. And saying they don’t look exactly like GW1 Mursaat, doesn’t mean they aren’t. Lots of creatures look different from their GW1 counterparts. I think these look enough like Mursaat that it’s safe to say they are. What I find interesting is that they are listed in the trailer as “new allies.” Mursaat as friendlies….interesting.
In the trailer they call this one a “New Allies” at 2:47, not sure if that is one all juiced up on magic, or another humanoid altogether.

They don’t look like mursaat to me, more like margonites ;-(
But its the only thing that makes sense other than new race.
As for them being allies…that’s about as dangerous as trusting sylvari given the mursaat’s history AND indeed the sylvari just turning on us. What’s weird is rytlock seems to be leading the “negotiations?” in the trailer. Charr allying with god posers, whose ancestors were defeated/driven out of kryta by the white mantle? It just seems like a mess waiting to happen.
They don’t certainly look like Mursaat, but like mentioned, very few GW1 races have kept their look. They might still be something else, maybe Seers or Margonites, or in worst case, something new ANet just invented. Still, it would be a waste to not to have Mursaat in a story focused around where they are supposedly hiding.
Apparently, they’re supposed to be our allies now. That’s a real twist. And I’ll not spoil it if you’ve not played Guild Wars 1.
They do look quite different from the previous game.

Well… they did say we’d find glint’s legacy there too. Not to mention the mursaat were less than friendly in gw1, and I doubt two centuries or so have made them any friendlier. At a guess they’re either Seers or ascended heroes from gw1.
Interesting. I presumed, from their appearance as well, that they were Mursaat. But I suppose it’s more than possible they could be something else. Still . . . I’m going with Mursaat.
Heck, if after the Searing, we’re now allied with the Charr, anything is possible.
My guess? They’re a result of Seer/Mursaat relationships.
As far as I know, we don’t know what the biology of the Seer or Mursaat is like nor do we know everything about their conflict. Who’s to say there was a splinter group that thought the conflict was foolish and who’s to say they can’t mate assuming they even mate and reproduce in the sense that we know?
Would also be a handy way of explaining why they look so different, if Anet chooses to.

maybe they are the guardians of the forgotten, remember the empty shells in the crystal desert
I never thought of the Margonite, but I can see a link between visuals on those as well. However, it makes less sense in the story-line to have them involved.
Really it looks more like a Seer then Mursaat because of the body shape. Of course just got to wait and see.
