Hello everyone,

I’m not sure if it’s just me or do you guys also feel a bit confused, when you’re roaming around in the Silverwastes for example, and the soundtrack “Dawn in Shaemoor” comes up. I think it really makes the zone lose its authenticity. I’d rather listen to 3 soundtracks over an hour just to keep the feeling authentic.

Also, from my experience, combat music only comes up after your health bar reaches a certain threshold. For example, killing an Icebrood boss in HotW while listening to the gentle piano soundtrack of the shiverpeaks doesn’t quite make me feel like I’m in a serious battle.

These are not terrible things, more like little details which don’t require that much attention, but sometimes, less is more. I hope this reaches the audio team and they come up with something that solves these things, and make the game more authentic.

Let me know what you guys think.

Changes to how the music tracks work are coming with HoT, according to the Dev posts on the subject (or, perhaps, it was stated on a PoI).

Good luck.

Good to hear about changes coming as I usually have the music turned off. Why? The following reasons:

1 – The combat music starts too often and just blares at you. I wish there was an option to turn it off so I can enjoy the other music. Yes I know we can change it to our own music. For a good while I had the intro music from FFX, best piece of gaming music ever but soon got bored with that. Yet to find the Benny Hill theme music, that would be perfect lol!

2 – Most of the said other music is either boring or depressing. The best pieces do not play often enough or seem to be confined to certain maps/areas. The into piece of music when you load up the game or perhaps on the char select (I forget which) is the best piece if I recall. It pumps you up and makes you want to get in game and do heroic deeds. But alas it ends there as it never seems to play while you are actually in the game! Such a waste.

3 – Some of the music that was in GW1 seems out of place here. Yes some of it was good but when I hear it now I just think back to GW and the worse graphics, no jump and the maps there where I would hear the music. Not good.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?

I’d prefer a change in the direction of the soundtrack. Most of the tracks are too relaxing/boring – Aion’s soundtrack, for example, was something I enjoyed a lot more.

I want the Sorrow’s Furnace tracks back in the game from GW1. Most epic MMO music ever.

Same here, I have different playlists for different characters. At one time I was debating making one for each region instead (like pink floyd in orr).
