Hi, i like play songs with harp but many songs are so difficoult and i saw that many people use macros for play them….. i’m here to ask…are macros allowed for play instruments or i risk a ban because they break the rules/eula???

(i think they are allowed for play because use them don’t comport advantages…but i’m not sure)

An answer from devs will be nice ^^
thanks in advance (and sorry for my english)

Official stance of Anet :
Any 3rd party program that can give you an “in game advantage” is to be forbidden under the terms of the EULA. This include any marco of any kind.

In reality, there is a tacit acceptance of macros for instruments in GW2. Anet has much more important things to do than run after instrument players. Anet will not support you if your macro breaks your game though.

Yes, they’re allowed. Gaile has said so in another thread. Just the macros that allow you to play musical instruments as far as I know.

I don’t recall the thread either but, I’m pretty certain Macro’s are fine as long as it’s for music only.

A built in simple composer for the instruments would be nice since everyone is already using macros nowadays.

PS: using a macro and taking credit for playing so well should be reason for ban. (j/k but it happens… ALOT)

“You will find our official position in this thread, and in no way does that stated position run counter to previously posted statements about the use of third-party programs. I invite you to read the official statementhere. Note that all statements, whether about generic third-party programs or macros, are based on the prohibition against something that gives a player a gameplay advantage. A music macro does not give a gameplay advantage in the same way a speed hack or a bot program would do, and that is why there is no prohibition against the use of a music-making macro.

Because they do not give a player a gameplay advantage, Customer Support does not intend to take action on people who play instruments using macros. We don’t recommend any. We don’t support them. If a macro causes your refrigerator to explode, we’re not going to get involved. But they are not against the rules, because the rules pertain to gameplay advantages, such as faster kills or more effective defense.

I’ll admit, I was very, very tempted to use that website to download and play music with the macros. I suck at playing the harp I bought. But then I thought . . . why bother?

I’m not showing any skill like a real musician. Just showing my ability to download a macro.

Not disparaging those that did, and do, but I didn’t see the point either.

Macro it up on those instruments. They’ve already stated that instrument macros do not give you any kind of advantage in game other than being popular to stand around, thus they are free to use.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….

yeah you hit the point… i bought the flute long time ago and i can play it well now….but the harp is so more difficoult >.< and there are many songs that is impossible to play without macros….
