I understand that a lot of GW2 endgame is getting your character to look exactly as you want him to, whether it be running dungeons for tokens so that you can get a certain gear skin, or even buying your gear from the TP.

I’ve been playing since the start and now have my character looking EXACTLY the way I want him to. I have full exotics gemmed & runed out the way I want. There’s not a single piece of gear I’d like to look any different, so all I’m wondering now is what is left for me to do really? I could carry on running dungeons or fractals etc, but any rewards I get aren’t really going to be much use to me at all. The only thing I’d really be playing for anymore is to increase my wealth, but I could be the richest guy in the game, and still have no idea what to spend all my wealth on.

I’m trying my hardest not to leave the game, as I’ve waited years for it to come out. I know that people don’t like a gear treadmill/grind and that’s fine, I don’t particularly like it either, but it seems now that there isn’t really anything worth doing anymore ingame.

I played GW1 happily for years, because there was always things to work for. For example, you would at times perhaps work towards getting enough money to buy a Req 8/9 Crystalline Sword, which was very expensive. That type of thing, because the skin was UNIQUE and looked great.

Playing GW2 now, I just can’t see anything else worth working towards considering my character looks exactly the way I want him to, and couldn’t imagine changing anything (unless of course they release any new weapon/gear skins).

I also have over 200k Karma saved up, and absolutely nothing to spend it on because I don’t need or want any of the gear skins, so that takes away event farming as something I could be doing, as I won’t be spending the earned Karma on anything at all.

edit: My character is a Human Thief who basically has the Anonymity Hood as the headpiece, the rest of his gear is Flame Legion Armor & he has two Centurion’s Claws as his weapons. I went cliché and dyed it Abyssal. Now, to ME I think he looks great, and that’s the reason I don’t really want to change anything.

Now its time to go back to GW1.

Because you said “there was always things to work for”.

Posted this here because I posted to your other post.. in the wintersday forum:

PvP/WvW? Alternative builds? Alts?
Titles? (Getting the Emporer would take a while) Collecting minis? Getting as many achievements as possible?

It depends on what you would find fun. If you only value looks for a single char.. then you won the game (at least, as far as you’re concerned.)

Everything you list here as “a lot” is actually the least amount of the end-game. The "a lot " is actually the DEs.

Sorry you have been mis-informed and I hope this helps you out

Start an alt ?

That’s what I did when I reached the “perfectly aesthetic” point for my main.

Problem is I hit the same point my alt, even faster due to larger funds from said main and the fact I knew how the game worked, and also what kind of armor set I envisioned for the alt from playing my main.

So what did I do ?

I started ANOTHER alt >.> lol….

But now that I have 2lvl 80s, it’s only going faster and from swimming in token tokens & gold, once I hit level 80 which won’t take long, I will be in the same situation…again.

So alts is not the answer to “fun” longevity in this game either. And if you aren’t even alt inclined, then might as well forget 90% of what I just said.

I guess the only thing to do is to probably give the game a break, and come back when there is new content, then leave again…ad lib.
Doing alts has helped me kind of dodge this problem but I think I’m not too far behind you man :p

You didn’t say if you had a legendary…so if you don’t, I guess you could work towards that but that’d be the equivalent of hopping in Grindville…so it’s your call really.

There is also WvW which is always fun, well not always, but generally.

Start a new character and get them to look exactly how you want. Play a different class or race this time.

I think this is the weak part of “horizontal” progression. It feels “done” when you have everything you want, but maybe you’re not done having fun yet. Or maybe you’re just done.

We are going to get a very large sized paid expansions worth of free new content for the months of January and February.
I say if you want take a break now but definently come back to see the new stuff.
also it doesn’t always have to be about progression, I have been having some very serious fun just doing world vs world and pvp matches and tournaments, also if you have not finished the personal story you should do that.
theres actually a lot of things to do in this game that are not for progression and are mostly for fun.

You could try making alts. You made three threads on this topic so you must like duplicates

Go find other things to do. Why are you confined to play a single game?
Take a break and wait for new contents.
