If only it was that easy. World completion requires you to part take in competitive play.

Best of luck, Ransom!
I have been in WvW for some time, and yea, some nights are just a kill fest when you’re so outnumbered. When that happens, I just try to modify my tactics so I can get a few more kills. (Easier said than done, I know…lol)
But lately, have been running with some smaller zergs, (10-20 players), and we’re regularly going up against superior numbers(sometimes 2.5-1), and, amazingly enough we’re coming out on top most of the time(when we’re organized and on teamspeak). The other night, we were doing a keep defense when we got into an open courtyard battle….we were severely outnumbered, and still were able to hold them off…..took awhile, and had to run back a couple of times after dying…..but it was an absolute ton of fun! I wish you had had more experiences like that in WvW, as that is what makes WvW super fun, imo.
Hope you find another good game to entertain you!

The only saving grace for WvW is how repairs no longer cost money.
It still is boring, but now less annoying.
A common tactic in PvP is to create mismatches in order to score kills. The trick is to avoid these situations as well as create them for yourself. I’m pretty sure you’re not out there getting demoralized when you help a fellow player in a 2v1.
Regardless, it sounds like you’re bored and/or unhappy with GW2 for now. Maybe it’s best you take a break, but remember you don’t have to subscribe to get back into the game down the road. You might, with some luck, have to buy an expansion. In that case it’s a one time fee and you’re still back in business.

It requires you to go to an area that has competitive play. You don’t actually have to engage in competitive play. Saying otherwise is just a blatant lie. I’ve successfully mapped WvW without getting into any kind of fight. You just hop in, get everything you can that your side owns in your BL, check EB, if your side has Stonemist, sweet, go grab everything you can there, and everything in your corner.
Then you go back to playing the PvE game and check periodically to see if your color has changed. Then just do it again. Mapping WvW will always require multiple trips in to get the spawn points for each color, there’s no way around it. But you certainly don’t have to do any kind of PvP if you don’t want to.
I always suggest people do BL/EB mapping during peak hours, because odds are most players will be busy focusing on capping things rather than chasing down the random straggler trying to map. Plus, if you come up on an spot that you see a bunch of the enemies, run to a safe spot, say something in /map, wait 5min and odds are they will be gone. If enemy has capped a tower on your side, just leave and come back later, those things flip constantly.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
Whelp after 5 level 80 characters and about a thousand hours of gametime I’ve decided I no longer want to play this game.
The last 5 months WvW has been the only thing to keep my interest and the constant 2v1’s are just killing the fun for me. It doesn’t matter if we’re on the winning or losing side and the latest update was pretty much the final blow.
I wanna say goodbye to all of you, and I hope whomever reads this topic that still plays has fun and enjoys the game longer than I did.
what ruined WvW for you in the recent patch?

Good point. There have been several times when the zerg battles have just gotten too crazy for me, and I just take a break and map WvW zones…..always kind of fun exploring those zones while having to constantly watch your back.

Just remembe, if you ever decide to come back, all you have to do is step through the portal and you’re there, in a magical land of glory, victory, and triumph.
glhf~~!
The devs appreciate the feedback, and heck man…he wasn’t rude or anything. He seemed to have genuinely enjoyed his time with the game and it was just time to move on. When the people are rude and use expletives, then I agree with you it’s old. This dude was pretty cool about it though.

Don’t worry. He’s coming back. They all come back at some point.
Everyone who has said they’re “officially done with GW2,” has got to be full of it. I’ll give him about a month. Two months at the very most. Once they see that season 2 of Living Story has started and all this new content is out, they know they won’t be able to resist it for very long >:)
Season 1 was such a huge success that I can’t wait for season 2!
