So I was running across Harathi Hinterlands to get to the overlord event and as I was about to enter the skrit tunnels at the central north part of the map I saw a skritt named Brekkabek and his pet bear Maully. I knew he had something to do with Guild Missions because he had a silver star above his head (similair to the guild commendation icon). I followed him for about 10 minutes spamming map chat as best I could (with the filter) hoping someone from the guild that activated it would arrive soon and come trigger whatever it is was supposed to happen. No-one arrived and I got bored so I left him as he was making his way into the human settlement on the north western side of the map.

I did a quick google search and it seems like this particular NPC is part of guild bounties, but my experience with him is that he does nothing so I suspect he can only be fought once the guild that started the mission arrives to trigger the fight. It’s also possible no-one triggered a mission and he is just found in the world regardless of whether one is active, but I suspect that’s not the case. For my first exposure to guild missions, this was pretty underwhelming.

No, from what the dev’s have been saying, that’s exactly the case. The NPCs are out there, but they don’t become attackable until a guild starts a mission that chooses them. When they die, they respawn somewhere else in the world, for another guild to trigger.

Well, it’s completely fair. Guilds have to go through a huge unlock process to begin the fight, so you being able to walk up and hit him is kind of…not the way it was implemented.

So it’s possible to determine in advance the location of all the bounty possibilities? That doesn’t sound right to me. The timer is just a kill timer if that’s the case.

They need to be researched first. And shiren, they patrol quite large areas, they’re designed to require a bit of coordination with map chat to find them quickly.

You don’t need to find them quickly if they spawn before the bounty is active. You can find them in advance of activating the bounty and then just activate the bounty once you’ve found them.

Alright, go ahead and stalk every target in Tyria before activating the Guild bounty, if your guild can do that then why not. The targets are chosen randomly, so you don’t know which target you will get next.
