I started playing on Sunday. I open my rewards for buying the Heroic version.

I get a set of the legacy armor that I equip, looks cool.

Time past and I replace each piece with other items.

Now I’m level 24, and messing around I take note of the box for the Krytan skin in my bank, I use it and get all the skins.

Now, here is where I guess I screwed up, I used them on the level 24 gear I was wearing, and now I’m sitting pretty with my gear but the item used to create the gear is gone, and now the skins are in my ’wardrobe" section.

Does this mean that from now on if I want to change the look of my gear I’ll need the transmog stones? that the skins were a one time only use on gear for free?

All skins are one time use for free and always have been since I’ve been playing the game. You didn’t screw up, it’s all working normally.

Exactly this.

You’ve unlocked that skin, but if want it on another armor set you’ll aways need transmutation charges.

Since is pretty easy attain lv80, I recommend to you only equip your visual when you reach at your lv 80 armor.

I was unaware that it would be a one time use item, since it was part of the deluxe edition.

So I’ll look pretty while wearing my level 24 ish gear then when I upgrade I’ll just have to buy the charges to change my level 80 gear over to those skins.

Of course I have no interest in actually spending money , the idea I would hope is to buy gems via gold then buy the charges.

Thanks for the help.

You will earn many transmutation charges as you complete zones, so it should not be a problem getting them.

Also, you get one transmutation charge each time you complete a map with 100%. Can also earn transmutation charges via pvp. .

My advice is complete 100% all maps, since it gives a lot of XP, and rewards for it are always good, even BLC keys sometimes.

Don’t think you made a mistake because you didn’t. You can use them any time but its just cheaper to use them at 80 until you have a stack of charges stored up.

This must be different for HoM players as I can change to any of the Legacy skins for free at any time on any character.

At least they didn’t take that away from us GW1 players.

Completely different skins. The legacy skin from the heroic/whatever edition is just the 700gems skins you can get from the gem store. It is NOT the skin from the HoM.

So is there really anything that is part of the actual game that doesn’t drop/farmable from the game that is available from the online store?

Like I thought the transmog stones were store only and you gusy/gals said they are attainable from the game.

Other then those cute outfits/hats you can buy, is really thing that you need to get in game that is only buyable with gems?

how about the extra bag slots? gems only?

There’s nothing in the shop that is required to play the game. Extra bag slots are only purchasable in the shop but aren’t compulsory. Nice to have, though. All the little boosters and other knicknacks can be collected through daily rewards (sometimes) and map completions through the odd chance of getting a key.

Heritage armor skins …. Hall of Monuments

Legacy armor skins …. Heroic Edition

People often confuse the two terms. =)

You get 400gems for every 5k AP as well. Same as the cost of the bag slot. Not that easy to get 5k but they also include a decent chunk of gold so you can convert that to gems as well if you like.

Oh and the chance of getting a key seems to have increased by a decent amount now that transmute stones aren’t a possibility anymore.

More bag things, you an check at TP (Press “O”) , and type “Slot”. Have bags from 4 slots up to 20 slots, all buyable with gold. Other than that, you’ll find other ways to get bags in’game, like fractals ones. But better learn the game trough steps.

Also, gem store itens are only for 2 things :
Cosmetic, or convenience. Gemstore never have itens that are needed , or that even give you some sort of real advance in game.

And by end, you can buy gems with gold. Yes, I love this game too, even while I battle against some things wrong.

Many items in the gem store can be acquired ingame with a little luck and/or effort, including Black Lion Salvage Kits and Transmutation Charge. Some, like outfits, are gem store exclusive.

Your best bet is to use the GW2 wikipedia for the items and services you’re interested in.
