My birthday gift bug/user error

At this point it’s highly unlikely an account roll back could help. It’s basically the same as using System Restore in Windows – it returns your account to the last time Anet created a backup of it. So you would have to have contacted them relatively soon after you deleted the character to be able to get them back.
But it would also mean losing everything you did after that point. All the items and gold you got, any characters you made and/or levelled, anything you unlocked…
For that reason and others they will only roll back accounts that have been hacked and they will only do it once per account.
But I assume you were told all that when you sent in a ticket.
Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it. There’s sometimes some nice things in the birthday gifts but it’s never going to be things that give any major advantage or that you’ll be really missing out if you don’t have. And you’ll get them eventually. Even having deleted your first character you’re still way ahead of a lot of people who started later than you.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
That exactly is why one of the titles you earn is called “Loyalty”
Never ever ever delete your first character in a Guild Wars game.
I love the character birthdays, and would be very unhappy if they changed it to account wide. Keep in mind I haven’t even had my main’s yet. It’s just a really unique mechanic and I think it’s great that it super rewards die hards. Cheapening it just seems silly, since after a year you won’t really have a true need of celebration boosters.
So the OP wants something change because they feel they are missing out, buy feel they are entitled to something, so it must change for everyone just so they are not left out.
I’m going to go right ahead and say, No. You made the mistake, you alone are at fault, you have to live with it.
As the Goblin King once said, “It’s not fair, you keep saying it, but I wonder what your basis for comparison is.”

I won’t be as harsh as BrotherBelial. Still, this isn’t something that can be fixed. It’s certainly not a bug. User error? No. You didn’t know at the time. Even if you’d told Support at the very first chance that you regretted deleting that character (which you did on purpose, you weren’t hacked), they’d not have been able to do much about it.
But you will eventually get the birthday gifts, even if it’s a year later than others get them (it’s still years earlier than others will). I recommend that you enjoy the prospect of what’s coming rather than feeling any bitterness towards others for having something you don’t yet have.

Wow. someone assumes quite a bit of me. Here is my response. No I don’t feel entitled and felt that I expressed that I do not intend to receive anything. Who hurt you?

Correct. If anyone out there was wondering… This is what is required on an account rollback. My intent was to share the issue. Thank you for explaining that.

Then why even make the post if you do not intend to receive anything? You must want something or you would not make a post, would you?

This is neither a bug or an error, just user not knowing about birthdays and you know what crap happens.
Keep playing and you will have more then enough birthdays on the other chars when the game finaly run its corse. ( yes I made 5 chars first day when game started to get the name I wanted never deleted any except the key running sloted one when I had 9 slots prehot)
Did I know about the birthdays, no I dident
Was plesantly suprised since I only played gw1 maybe 2 months before quiting it.

I’m not sure why you’re being so hostile towards OP. I didn’t see anything in the original post that made it seem like OP was whining, let alone trying to get something from someone. It just seemed like a “Don’t do what I did because you won’t be able to undo it” post.

Well posting it as problem and saying in the middle
I have sent out tickets before but I haven’t posted on the forums. I doubt anything could be changed with the exception of an account rollback
Sounds like s/he want the char back, but dont know what a account rollback would do + that it only offred once if you been hacked
And this wont help much becouse either 1 then person have already done the same thing or 2 the topic will get burried in page 2, 3 , 4 etc within afew days.

True. But I doubt that OP was seriously hoping for a rollback at this point. They said this happened three years ago and that they now have characters getting 3rd birthday gifts.

Not being hostile, just asking questions. The OP clearly wants some thing. They tried support, now this seems to be an attempt to gain support to there problem and force ANet to change something. Plus the thread title says a lot, this was not a bug or user error, this was a simple lack of knowledge. People who played GW1 know about character birthdays. I deleted my first character in GW1 shortly before the first year birthday as I didn’t like the look of him. Sucked to be me when a few days later people where walking around with there first year minis. I didn’t contact support or anything, it was my mistake, so I had to deal with it. The OP needs to just deal with it and learn from it.

As a general rule I don’t delete characters in any RPG unless I absolutely have to or I’m certain I will never want to play them again.
There’s almost always something you’re in danger of losing. Whether it’s a perfect stat roll (been replaying Baldur’s Gate, and I think I’ve spent more time re-rolling stats than playing), finally getting a good face from an infuriating character creator, special items, or something like this there’s usually a down-side.
Which isn’t to say I don’t delete characters, I do, a lot. But I think you need to either know the game well enough to be aware of any potential downsides (which may not be the same as in other games) or just accept that there may be some.
