Guild Wars 2

Just finished my second Bolt, Twice Told Legend now….
This doesn’t mean the game is over. You can repeat it as often as you want… Incentive to replay does water down with limited content being added in your field of play….

But: What to do now?

I’m:

• no PvP player (rank 12 so I tried a little)
• a bit WvW minded, yes…., (rank 865, Silver Scout)
• PvE: mastery 169, 9 map, 1 HoT map, 9 specialisations unlocked, 20 chars unlocked
• 5 legendaries incl. 2 Bolt , Kudzu, Meteorologicus, Ad Infinitum
• story (finished personal on 10+, finished HoT on 5+, finished all achievs on LS s2)
• dungeon (still working on dungeoneer, but ran some dungeons 1000+ times)
• fractals mostly fine everything above 75 tends to get a pain now (lvl 100, Ad infinitum)
• 23.5k+ AP….

SO my experience is:

• Seen the stories tried most/all arcs… got them achievs even Migraine….
• PvE-er with no thing for raids? You are probably gone by now, the recent 3 limited achievement sets are nice but extremely dry content. it’s also not replayable….
• Dungeon PvE-er? Either you went to Fractals and Raids…
• Fractals are not boring after redoing those for the last months… Really they are not… Who am I trying to kid here….
• WvW -> work in progress since 2012,
• PvP Either you love it, and take imbalance and the only 2 played maps and the second game mode with 1 map…You accept it’s pretty bare and imblanced…I do not…
  
  And if…. if I’m lucky; I get into a raid; if I can find time, but it’s not “epic”:

Raid:
It’s mostly a 10 people dungeon which is fubarred from the get go by 1 or more people knowing nothing, being dishonest about experience or gear, elitists shouting: “Everything is garbage anyways!” if ppl are 10 second behind times made by Youtube raid guilds, and much much more, ofcourse people not wanting to use (decent) food, and I’m almost forgetting waiting times for PuG’s…, which generally last longer then actual tries….

I do not care for the ascended/legendary armor anyways, I have 9 ascended armors already, I just care for the new rings and the fact the HoT stats are behind a raid wall is dumb. You are forced to do raids to be able to adjust to the meta… it seems….
Yes A-net introduces content and make half the content unavailable.

I would like to unlock a viper’s set, preferably more. I like running viper’s on multiple classes and am forced to shift Ad Ifinitum, my malicious band and my mordrem loop from character to character which is a problem for me at least. I made 7 sets of infused attuned sinister rings to fit to the Mea before HoT and I’m frustrated I cannot obtain gear to make my characters as I want.

  Leaving me at 94.95 Condition duration my prefferred setup has 100.06% condition duration which tends to be of use adding 1 second of bleeding on a couple of skills..

I have 2 children and a wife (= a life), a 350+ person guild (second life?) and raids tend to suffer…

The amounts of ppl playing is drying up so hard it’s now efffectively impossible to find a dungeon party within 5 minutes outside prime time, CoF and CoE are closed 90% of the time outside primetime, most people cannot run dungeons anymore as all dungeoneers are raiding….

I asked for a lvl 80 EXP party 2 days ago and I got a lvl 35, a lvl 38 and a lvl 42 in my group with a combined total of 900 AP.

Fractals is BORING. at least I cannot find much joy in it atm, I’m fed up with 5k AP ragequitting on lvls 90+ and leechers without AR…

Raids, while gratifying, are extremely closed and -most- people will do guild raids only provided they are in raid guilds, which also tend to reek of 1337 musk.

GW2 -> gw2 , it dried up….. like a shriveled little carebear in the crystal desert….

This is my sentiment… And I’m biassed…

I wanted to highlight this, because it touches on what I like to do… and that’s build experimentation. That’s a lot of my endgame (and part of that is currently working on a full set of ascended celestial everything). I come up with an idea of some weird combo that might or might not work, then spend my gold and time to equip it out.

I get that it’s frustrating to shift the same ascended gear toon to toon… so why not instead work on other builds for some of those other toons with gear you can obtain?

Have you tried a Settler’s condi tank? I’ve found it to be hella-fun. What about a meta-event/world-boss rez specialist? Heck, I’ve even played with a ranged-only warrior….

Regardless, I hope you’re able to find some means to reignite your passion in the game…

I’ve done 99% of what I wanted to do.

Yep, that’s how it works. If you put thousands of hours into a game, there’s a really really good chance you’re going to exhaust the content. Do you think expecting otherwise is unreasonable.

It’s happened to me in other games I’ve played, why shouldn’t it happen here.

Fortunately I have a great guild who I enjoy hanging out with and that keeps my happy most of the time. And I like helping new players and players who need some help getting through the new zones, or stories, or dungeons or whatever.

At the end of the day, a theme park MMO is going to run out of content and if you can’t find ways to enjoy the game, you’ll stop playing. I’m not really sure why you’d expect anything else.

I’m a long time RPer that can’t adapt to modern RP. It was different when I RPed, before computer games really. Pen and paper. Big leap for me.

That said, I’m still happy with what I’m doing in the game anyway. I’m happy helping people and running the guild. So no complaints here. I don’t expect the game to entertain me. I learned long ago to entertain myself.

A lot of people who complain, I sometimes think need to be spoon-fed entertainment. They say inside a computer game they’re bored. Bored.. inside a computer game…

To me, that’s kind of like sitting in a restaurant, not ordering anything, then complaining you’re hungry.

I used to play Shadowrun as a “Tabletop-fantasy-RPG” that’s 20+ years ago I was 15-20 at thee time now I’m 41, I left RL RPG, mostly cause I couldn’t find stable groups… RPG-ing was very popular in Germany and France, problem in the Netherlands it never took off… I am a crazy gamer, I loved tabletopstrategy and tactics games (battletech, and warhammer for example), but equally interested in D&D and such.

So yes I tried RP-ing, but not in a MMO, it tends to be disrupted so easily by <censored> little <censored><censored><censored>‘s I cannot stay in character for more then 5 minutes before raging hard…. Even though I’m a fanatic berserker player… I do not see the options…

I have been waiting for a decent part of story since before HoT, I finished the first storyline in HoT in 3 days… so 3 days of new content (lore wise) in over 1.5 years now… and the content drought is no longer a warm sunny day, but more like the saltdeserts, being baked in 65 C for way too long, 1.5 years to be exact….with one weekend you noticing a halffull canteen (halffull not halfempty)

I remember bi weekly updates and LS S1, and the LS after a while but I’m hungry for LS 3,4,5 all within weeks of each other…. I like the raids yes, but my personal life doesn’t allow me to go and farm 150 LI’s, IMHO 15 would have been enough, and even this is rediculous….. requiring me to either cheat/beg/buy myself into a group able to carry me or to spend 100’s of hours and spend 100’s of gold todo content whcih I find interesting but a very small part of the game…I like to run through new areas, find new critters, new JP’s, new legendaries, new DUNGEONS/FRACTALS (5 man) and maybe reworked instanced 10-12 man content like the gw1 dungeons.

And I’ve got 9.5K hours in… some things tend to bore me….

Grats on all of that! Take a break. Play some other stuff. Keep an eye on updates, and come back when theres more stuff to do. I found that this also helps extremely well, when all you feel like doing is coming to the forums and raging out of control, about the things you don’t like.

I get you love the game, and would prefer to play nothing but the game, so give it a break. You’ll be fresh, and happier to tackle more content if you do.

Indeed. Boredom is always caused by the lack of imagination.

RP can be done in instances to avoid the interruptions, though that does make it harder to bring others in or to be open to new people in the story. Heck, it can even be done out of game to flesh out what’s happening in game. I’ve found that Mozilla Etherpad offers a highly organic shared writing pad for when one needs to bring in multiple characters played by one person (eg waiters in a restaurant, villainous goons, or other “walk ons”). Plus it’s nice to not always have to start a sentence with my character’s name /laughs.

Yeah, that means sometimes being out of game to improve the experience in game, but it has enhanced my PvE fun as I scout locations and events to incorporate details into the stories I tell in and out of game.

Get interested in more hobbies, read a book, watch a tv series, buy some steam games, or build a car, if you do the same thing over ans over you will get bored.

but raids have ruined Gw2 for me , i have came to the game cuz it had no raids
I was amazed by that … because i saw people doing quests together , participating in events together , dungeons and world bosses every one can play and enjoy any content together there was no competition back than which made the community happy and good to each and other helping one and other with almost 0 toxicity (season pvp thats one other rant) , i am not saying Raids are a bad thing , but i am saying its content that is not available for every one and a content you need to spend hours on end to be able to just get the required gear which kinda ruins the experience and what i have been taught by this game that every content is available for every one , yes i know ! i have heard it million times “but its something for hardcore players” but me and many like me miss out on lore and miss out on much more than lore an experience going through an adventure just because i need to train my self for days? this is not the Guild Wars i joined or the game i used to know , this competitive egocentric train has arrived and every one is on it … i dont want to but i HAVE TO …

like i said its just my opinion dont want to ruin for you “hard core” players.
