Okay first of all, I am not a WoW Fanboy, neither did I play it. I also haven’t played Guild Wars 1 ,nor am I comparing this game to any other MMO out there.
I am not hating on the game, I am just bringing out my personal thoughts that I felt like should be posted here.

My honest thoughts about GW2. I’ve been looking forward to it for years, now that it’s out I am disappointed mostly. You can hit the “Endgame” within 5 days, get the best gear and what you’re left with is basically doing WvW which isn’t rewarding at all. You can get the best items easily, and all that’s left for you to do is grind for a legendary weapon which takes 3 bilion items to make and the weapon itself is not even that good. You are left with achievements which are pretty much more less pointless in the eyes of a gamer like me. There’s no real challenge or competitive gameplay that most of us gamers play MMO’s for. You say you’ve imagined the game to be available for all the people of the world, so that even the people with little time can experience the endgame. But what about the people who invest more time in playing the game? What are we to do when you can finish the whole game within 2 weeks max. After that all you can do is basically WvW which in one hand gets boring after a while. I mean you can’t even see the players names which automatically drops the competition and rivalry. I think that those two things is what makes MMO games very exciting, the feeling of competitive gameplay and rivalry. Nobody really cares to go to WvW when you get some random 2% crafting bonus, I mean that hardly even profits anyone. Everything you do is not rewarding at all. All of you who say the game is different, etc. etc. We’ll see how you’ll speak of the game in one month after you realize you’re left with nothing to do. This basically feels like a single player game, just with some people on it( perhaps it doesn’t make sense put in this way but that’s what it is really). I was hoping for a bigger level of competition, actual GUILD WARS not just WvW which at the end of the day comes down to which server has more people playing over night when the rest of the people are sleeping. Mindless zerging. What’s the point of playing a game where I can’t achieve anything, other than some rather personal “Achievements” that give nothing. I really would hate to see this game fail because I love it, but in the other hand It gets easily boring which is a huge downside. It’s lacking so many things because it was aimed to make things easy for people. How is it fun to reach max level within 2-3 days. You don’t really get to experience the game at all. I am not hating on the game, nor do I want to quit it. I just wish there was some more thought process behind this. I most certainly hope that Arenanet does something about this. I want to keep playing the game, because it’s beautiful, it has A LOT of potential, I try to enjoy the game to its fullest but it’s so far it’s not working.I’d hate to hear Guild Wars 2 was another over hyped game that got old after a month.

And for all of you that are going to reply “If you don’t like it, stop playing it” read before you post.

The thing is, it’s not that I’d want to do so. But even if you play the game casually, you can hit 80 within a week. When I first started out with my friends I was like, guys let’s take it easy and enjoy every bit of the game. And within 5-6 days we’ve all got level 80. I was really let down to see that. I’d also like to add how it’s rather bad that you have to play with only 5 skills that were previously chosen for you. I personally play a ranger, and I find warrior Longbow skills to be much more entertaining than the ones on my ranger. It’s kind of ironic isn’t it?

At the end of the day we all play games differently and have our own goals and objectives within the game itself and the hardest thing for any company to do is design and market a product that will satisfy everyones expectations in terms of these goals and objectives.

My own advice would be if you see the potential in the game that you have admitted to, then keep playing and give it time to mature (at the end of the day it is still under 1 month old) otherwise you can always mothball the game and come back to it in a few months time as there is no subscription (another benefit of b2p), but at the end of the day it is your choice and no one on here can tell you what to do.

Personally me and my missus have been playing for a couple of hours each night after work and a little longer at weekends, have explored all the areas had fun and not even broke level 40 yet but that is our choice and how we have fun in game.

I guess you’re right in some perspectives. I just feel that it’s very limited so far, but then again the game is new I suppose it should be given some time. Thanks for your response

In no way is that even remotely close to being true.

How many hours did it take you to 80? Took me ~85. No way 85 hours in a week is anything remotely resembling “casual”.

Stopped reading at “Get the best gear” – you cannot get the best gear in 5 days. To get the best gear, you need mystic coins, which you get at a rate of one per day. I believe you need 30 of them per item (could be mistaken, but the number hardly matters).

I personally don’t find a ceiling on gear stats amazing. And Amnon you can buy Mystic coins at a very cheap price of 1 silver each. It took me around 50-60 hours to get to max level.
