So after reading through these forums I thought I’d give my suggestions, observations etc.

First the good, this game is absolutely stunning! Almost every area has interesting features and give me reasons to go there. I also like how open the world is, you have many options to keep yourself busy, I was never really into achievements before, but I’m getting close to hitting 10k and really enjoy this aspect. The LFG tool is great, and a much needed addition to this game.

Some things I find good and bad. For example living story. I’ve heard people on here complain endlessly about the LS, but for the most part I find it enjoyable. I played GW1 for 5 years and find the holiday events here much more fun. I also like the new dungeon paths, teq etc. Though I do see problems here. I’m not a hardcore gamer, but in a good party I can hold my own. Some members of my guild are more casual and they like to do these things too, so the runs through the Aetherblade dungeon (for example) become quite painful. I would like to see a variable difficulty mode. I enjoy the teq battle immensely, I’m from blackgate, and It feels great to lead (or just join) my server in battle. But on the other hand Teq is now a wasteland, and it’s hard to get the people together to do it, especially with the new WvW season. If I were to change one thing about it, it would be to get rid of the poison for below a certain number of players (not at release but now that the shininess of the event has worn off) As it is now when teq pops most people warp in, see no organization and leave. If it wasn’t for the almost insta-kill poison we would probably have more people attempt it.

Finally some suggestions, most of which I’ve seen here already but would like to reiterate. As a guild leader and a long time GW1 player, I really miss the guild hall and associated guild functions. I would like to be able to see when my people last logged in, repped, and so on. The guild hall in guild wars one was like our home. I for one am really looking forward to getting one here and personalizing it.

I think most of us transfers from gw1 resent the living story because we think “hey they could bypass this stuff and be working on an expansion” and though I do like most of the living story, none of it compares to visiting my old stomping grounds in Cantha or Elona. There is so much potential there it makes me salivate,

The first year birthday presents were one of the low points in the game in my opinion, I started playing this game in beta and got the bright idea to make all of my characters the first weekend. I figured I’d get birthday presents quicker and thought I was so smart. Unfortunately by the time a year had rolled around all my characters were around lvl 80 (none lower than 70) so now I have a bunch of minis I can do nothing with, and 6-7 scrolls to bump characters up to level 20, which do me no good.

And last of all I really, really want more races/professions. I could use some of my scrolls from above and I love learning the ins and outs of each profession.

There are of course other little things, like hiding the engi back kits, but what I’ve listed above are the most important things that I as a daily player would like to see.

Also for my fellow gamers out there I get kinda bummed out by all the negativity here, I know that is a side effect of the anonymity of the internet, but please remember the devs are doing new things here, and learning from what happens just like we are. I hope (and believe) they are listening to our input on what works and what doesn’t and will use it to make the future updates better.

My two cents.

Skimming through your points…

Yes, the game is definitely full of eye candy. We’ve come a long way since Temple of Apshai.

I like the Living Stories and was sorry to see so much duplication as I climbed levels with all my toons.

First year birthday presents were a very sad letdown. “Better than nothing” isn’t a grand endorsement.

I would like more races and professions; but that doesn’t seem to be at the top of their priority list.

Sorry about all the negativity. I know I’ve dished out my fair share. I have a love/hate relationship with the game. I honestly believe I would have quit a long time ago if there had been a monthly fee. I really wish GW2 was more like GW1. Pox to ascended and legendary weapons with their better stats. Curses to the devs who have claimed to be looking at issues for over a year now (say, the 25 stack limit to condition damage) with no sign of a fix on the horizon.

Still, I stick around. I guess my hope springs eternal.

My two cents.

I just despise when posters presume to speak for me. I hardly doubt you know 1% of the players who came from GW1, much less do posters have the right to suggest what “most” of us want. I see this happening all over the forums, and its really starting to get old. I like the living story(well a lot of it anyway), and I feel all of this talk about expansions is foolish. They have already explained that I do not need to purchase an expansion disc for them to add a new race, class, or land mass.

Thats why I used words like THINK and MOST. based on what I have seen on these forums, and the cross sections of players I have talked to about this, I stand by that. I apologize if you think I am trying to talk for you. I am not

From my experience, I also see that the majority of GW1 players hate the Living Story… including myself.

I wouldn’t apologize in response to a pedantic argument. It’s not worth it.

Anything I post is just the opinion of a very vocal minority of 1.
