My wish for the future of Gw2
Is this really you bhcbose, or is ARWEN using your account?
Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?
ARWEN is an IRL friend. But you are talking to bhcbose. I do side towards ARWEN opinion most of the time but not all the time.
Arwen would not even dare ask for an equilibrium and that I can guarantee you..
Just to let you know, I stopped playing the game a long time ago. I have no level 80 characters because sadly, I felt that this game would not be promising as much as I thought. I guess I was partly right. I have been reading almost all of Arwen posts and I came to the conclusion that one of the big problem this community have reagarding content is that there is to much emphasis on the gemstore and not enough on actual content. You can conclude why I wrote this post.
Now to put you back in context, since the time I stopped playing and now, the only additions I saw to the game were the following:
*Ascended Weapons
*Ascended Armor
*Edge of the Mist
*Wardrobe
*Some polishing of the game
*New traits and stuff that came with the april 15th patch
And what I saw from the Gemstore would probably be to much for me to list here. You see my point I guess.
As of lately I have been playing Starcraft and Diablo. (Especially diablo is changing for the best)
What has gone in game easily balances what went into the gem store, to be honest outweighs it in my eyes. Which is quite the achievement with 2 week schedule and how much longer in game content takes to design and produce vs gem store content. I’m not going to list the in game content additions – this has been done to death and proven conclusively on these forums enough times now.
The real issue in in game content comes down to the;
- quality (which is endlessly debatable and entirely subjective)
- the temporary nature.
The latter we are assured are fixed.
Remember things like EOTM and wardrobe took 9 months to a year by the devs own admittance to make. To produce more content along these lines in a timely manner is inconceivable. Gem store items however, are quick to make and can’t be compared by numbers to in game content. The scales are different.
To put things into another example; TSW released its first new zone. The production and quality were exceptional. 2 years after launch… just some extra quests and 1 new zone. All of high quality. Lotro is churning out content as quickly as possible. The standard is deteriorating from its once lofty platform of MMO excellence. Both churn out online store content at a rapid rate.
Equilibrium between gem store and in game not really an issue since we by and large have it. And since the gem store store essentially funds the game…lets not go down the road of nerfing it unduly.

It is a good thing that they shifted toward permanent content for what concern the living story.
I strongly understand that it takes time to implement new content that is of decent quality. But I think that it is hard for the people to wait and hope that content will eventually come.
It was not that bad for me since I completely stopped the game and did other things. But for an MMO which should be a game that you are able to play constantly and not feel bored to quickly, I can understand the issue some player have. When you play everyday and you see more gemstore addition than content toward the game it can be quite difficult to digest for some.

I know he’s your friend, that’s why I asked.
And, maybe play more read less. The gemshop is a bother for some people and others just shrug their shoulders and think “whatever”.
And, if the game wasn’t for you then it wasn’t for you. No harm in that.

Yeah I understand your point. And I indeed shifted to other games, but I still have strong feeling for a game I played way to much before which was the first Guildwars.
