So over the past 2 days i’ve tried to get myself the staff precursor out of the allmighty mystic toilet and after having spent close to 50 gold (should rather have spent it on dyes or some other stuff when looking at the outcome) i dont really want to try and get the precursor. For the most part i get weapons that are FAR worse than what i actually put in it… which is odd dont you think? but then again, it is a toilet so what would you expect…

Anyway, i was wondering if there is any system to this wonderful toilet of uselessness? I have seen people put in 4 rares and poof gotten a precursor on their first attempt and i have seen people put 1000’s of gold into it and never get anything better than toiletpaper back. Does or just randomly throw a dice or is there a sort of a system to it?

inb4 rng is rng

rng is rng

Though it’s not fair.

The balance team is chained to SPVP, and the PVE team is all about producing carnivals

Wasted 20G yesterday on 40(?) rare swords.
Didn’t get a single exotic back.

Got the colossus after 40g~ worth of rare hammers and the leaf of kudzu after my third try with some random bows.

The only system to the toilet is getting extremely lucky and then resisting to urge to keep throwing gold at it in hopes of getting something good. As much as you THINK you’ll get something good, the odds are you wont. No point in trying to beat the house

50 gold is nothing… There is a reason the price of precursor ar elike 500-600 gold. People use hundreds of gold before they get it, and they want some profit. No way people are selling it for 450-550 gold profit. They spend like… 300 gold to get it is normal

i got lucky with mine i spent 80, but thats RNG

Just dont give and dont be mad until you have actually spent the ammount of gold it costs… Spending like 1/10 of the precursor price is not enough for moaning

This is what I’ve been doing, while farming most of the world events/ bosses or drops in general.

I keep all the rare weapons and throw those in the forge and salvage everything else. Works out very well that way and I’m not spending huge amounts of gold. I haven’t gotten a precursor yet though…

It is pretty straight forward. It is a random chance; A low random chance.

Would you go to the store and buy $50 worth of scratch tickets and expect to make your money back? No. You’re hoping for the chance that you get ‘lucky’ and most poeple will walk away from that with nothing.

If you look in the trading post and see how much gold the precursors are going for, that is some indication of their rarity.

If anyone could put 50 or even 100g into the mystic forge and have a reasonably good chance of getting a precursor out of it, you wouldn’t see people selling them for 500g+.

With the mystic forge you are gambling. So put into it only what you are comfortable losing for nothing in return. If you get lucky doing that, great. If not you have only lost what you were confortable losing.

I throw the rare’s I get from drops into the mystic forge. I don’t try for a specific precursor. I make sure there are a few weapons in there and that the average level is correct. If by some chance I some day pull a precursor out of three, I’ll use the gold to put towards the one I want.

Otherwise I’m saving up my gold to eventually buy it.
