Why not make it like the crafting professions?
What I mean with this is the system where you have the recipes you’ve discovered ready to be made, where you can make multiples of said recipes. Would really make upgrading/downgrading mats, crafting giftboxes, making items that you need multiple of, really easier, and even allow you to search for the recipes you’ve unlocked.
Is there something in this that would break the game? o_o
Also, this wouldn’t have job lvls like professions, just the list of items and the same discovery menu.

This would of course be a nice feature.
I think the reason why the forge is created differently than the crafting station is because many recipes have multiple outcomes and involve rng, the crafting panel does not.

Hmm, maybe a warning on recipes that could result in multiple outcomes would solve that one problem? You made a nice point though!
I still think it’s a good idea. Maybe if we post here all the cons of why this system wouldn’t work in this thread, we could find ways to “fix” them? I’m really hoping this idea could work!

I wasnt saying that it wont work or can be made workable.

I just mentioned a probable reason why they didnt implement it from the start.

I wouldn’t mind this as well. I don’t know of any third party sites that are very helpful for an overview of the MF. I sometimes use wiki, but that’s generally when I have an idea what I want out of the MF and so I go looking up what I need to obtain it. The MF in general doesn’t feel very transparent and I find it more of a chore to use than a traditional upgrader. I remember in games like Rogue Galaxy they explained and made the Frog super easy to understand when throwing in two swords to get another sword back.

Wouldn’t mind seeing more instructive melding from the MF in the future. If they’re going out of their way for QoL updates…why not?

Nice idea, and while we’re at it, if we could select mats from the bank it would be appreciated

If I remember well, this issue as already been talked about by a dev here and I think he said the structure of MF is so different than crafting that it wouldn’t be an easy task… but who knows

i think it’s a good idea, but difficult to implement well in the current mechanics. Think of how many recipes are available. How do you categorize them? it will accept any four pieces of gear of any level providing they are the same quality. How do you pick which specific pieces of gear it uses?

That sort of thing.

I would love a way to make converting my million-karma-worth-of-reward-gloves more effectively into linen, but i don’t see how it could be done effectively
