Here is another reason why I am quitting this game.

I gathered all the materials to make 4 exotic weapons, I put them in the forge, because that is what I read has a chance to make the base for a legendary.

I got 1 exotic out, essentially 4 good weapons became 1 with similar stats. TOTAL WASTE

Yes I know its random, but why did you design it this way Arena, I am not going to go through this again, collecting all the stuff, just to have it happen again.

The definition of stupid is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

The forge is like most of the other design in this game, it removes value, it removes gold from the economy.

Please someone post something good about the Mystic Forge. I have nothing.

The Mystic Forge is just another mechanic to make you grind more gold and mats. Yeah, random numbers suck when they don’t roll in our favor, but random numbers are random. Oh, well.

I actually think the definition of stupid is observing the expected outcome of a given action and then complaining about it.

I got a celestial dye from the forge if it makes you feel better. Though… Mostly green quality I put in turns out other greens instead of rares, sometimes it returns a dye I put in!

I’m glad that you didn’t do research at all on the mystic forge, tried only once for items that take people hundreds of tries, and now are quitting because of a single failure.

That shows some real smarts and strength of character there.

The Mystic Forge is a gambling tool. If you don’t like it, don’t use it, but don’t complain about putting 4 exotics in to it and only getting 1 exotic weapon out. That’s what the Forge DOES.

While many people like to quote that Einstein actually said that phrase, the truth is he likely did not.

The more likely person to first quote it is said to be mystery writer Rita Mae Brown.

Einstein or not it is not true from the pure definition of insanity.

The countless hours of “practice” (doing the same thing over and over) that world class athletes go through to get better results, proves exactly how wrong the expression can be.

Using the Mystic Forge is like buying lotto tickets, most of the time it’s a waste, but someone wins!

You are not force to use it

4 exotic? Consider yourself lucky. This man spent 1000+ rare greatswords in attempt to get his Dusk / Dawn. Spoiler: he failed.

If everyone could put in 4 exotics and get a precursor then the prices would drop immensely thus reducing the amount of time to gain a legendary weapon. Also you knew before hand that you aren’t guaranteed the item yet you went ahead with it then get all pissy and come here to moan about it?

So you’re kitten essentially because you want to be handed your legendaries with little to no work then.

One combine and getting nothing is not a waste.

1000+ combines and getting nothing IS a waste.

If they give you a token after each failed combine and 100 tokens = a 100% change, that would be a good fix all round.

Random luck for some, but a backup that you will never waste more then 100 combines.

I think I will just save my gold and buy the finished successful combine on the market.

RNG based systems are the reason no one wanted to play TERA.

Its a terrible model.

so the OP took a gamble in mystic forge knowing it may not give back the sword he wants in return, took the chance, failed, and complain about it?

Do not feel bad man, Ive already put 30 exotics in and well over 100+ rares, and for what..not a kittening thing.. I have long since stopped wasting my time with their kittenystem..The only ones who will get anywhere beyond exotics are the ones who buy the gold from the gold sellers, and the ones who bot non-stop on alt accounts cause Anet does not a kittening thing to remove them… You can say all you want, I have watched the same bots for over 3 weeks on our server.. they do the same stuff 24/7

the forge is designed to be a gold sink and as such atm is working as intended.

The Precursor items however are another matter that Arenanet are currently looking into, atm the vast majority if not all of the Precursors on the Trading Post are up there via exploits that have since been fixed and the prices are far too high for any legitamate player to reach short of emptying your wallet given the current economy of the game.

i really dont understand why Arenanet just didnt create a set recipe for each Precursor, perhaps involving a Bloodstone.

There’s a certain point where an RNG should work in the player’s favor. If enough people buy lotto tickets, someone eventually wins, otherwise jackpots would get into the billions and people would eventually realize that there’s no point in putting money into the game. I’m not saying that the lotto and RNG for the MF are exactly the same, but more and more people are going to give up on the MF if it doesn’t throw a bone to someone at least once in awhile. Certainly the schmo in that video up there should have gotten something good if the system was fair.

well, if you are quitting anyway, the mystic forge has no negative effect on you. On a different note, can I haz your stuff?

You know exotics are the base line gear of this game right?
You’re not going to get any numbers higher than you get with exotics.

Everything else past exotics is cosmetic skins.
This game isn’t about how good your gear is, this game is about how good your skills are and how good you look.

It’s been made clear since day one, there is no gear treadmill

I think that ppl just look for reason to quit, He chose mystic forge as im chosing ranger nerf. Ppl just need a reason.
