Mystic Tribute Salvage
Considering that all second generation legendaries excluding the upcoming shortbow are “indefinitely suspended”, it is not undue to ask the the Mystic Tribute can be salvaged into it’s component materials. A lot of people had been getting ready for a new legendary and being pragmatically enthusiastic, started preparing now. I myself was going to make either the new sword, scepter, or shield. Seeing as there is no timetable on that I feel it is necessary to demand that we are able to salvage the Mystic Tribute since it’s such a costly and time consuming item to make.
It’s not crazy to request such a feature.
However, if I were in ANet’s shoes and I hadn’t already thought of it, I wouldn’t fulfill it: the entire idea of suspending work on legendaries is to focus work elsewhere. Adjusting things for the handful of players who jumped the gun wouldn’t, in the current context, be a good use of their resources.
(Mind you, I think it’s exactly the kind of thing that ANet forgets to anticipate when making such announcements and I wish they would do a sanity check with some players who have signed NDAs just to get some perspective. However, that’s pretty unlikely to happen with any company, never mind one the size of ANet.)
In other words, I’m sympathetic to your situations and unfortunately I suspect it comes down to the “needs of the many” outweighing the “needs of the few”.
Those few people who prepared all the gifts should just contact support and ask if they could help. If you ask nicely I’m pretty sure they are happy to help
They didn’t “jump the gun” they prepared for something that Anet said it would deliver.
Unless you mean that Anet is so untrustworthy that anyone basing their actions on what Anet promises is being unduly hasty.
Hopefully they’ll do something about it. They made Gifts of Fortune salvageable after it was announced that the new legendaries wouldn’t be using them, and that was a great gesture and a very practical thing to do.
People are still going to be mad, but if there’s a time for a positive gesture, now is probably the time.
Contact support and see about getting the components back. It’s only fair that they do.
