I was under the assumption that the ‘reserved name list’ got cancelled after launch day and all reserved names that were unclaimed became available.
Chances are the name you wanted is just taken.
Unless they haven’t gotten around to clearing the list yet. Are you getting an error message of some sort like, “The name you have chosen is reserved” or some such?

When you enter a name that is taken a box pops up and tells you so. When you enter a name that is reserved a different box pops up and tells you so. Separate messages for each scenario and I’ve encountered both.
