Hello ArenaNet,

While the focus is on the New Player Experience, I wanted to address the Gemstore. New players run into inventory issues fast because they do not know what to keep or not to keep. GW1 solved this problem by allowing new players to speak to merchants to buy Weapon Kits (to store their weapons in). In GW2, they are not able to expand the number of bags they carry unless they go through the Gemstore. Gold to gem costs have gone up but new players are still earning the same amount of gold they did in 2012. Allowing people to buy more inventory slots through a merchant with a constant fee would help ease players into GW2 more.

Thank you for your time.

Guild Wars 1 gave you 5 bag slots, and the biggest bag you could get/make was 10 slot. I’m not really sure that this is any kind of disadvantage. You get more bag slots here, you can purchase bags from the marketplace from any level or craft them as you level.

In fact, you couldn’t even buy an eight slot bag in Guild Wars 1. There was a five slot pouchbelt and five slot bags you can buy, to which you’d later add a rune of holding, which wasnt’ immediately apparently to new players.

I had as much trouble…even more trouble in Guild Wars 1 keeping my inventory free than I do in Guild Wars 2.

With the basic Non-expanded space you are given you can have 100 slots of inventory space if you have all size 20 bags. There are many awesome crafted (hidden) recipes for neat types of Bags:

- Basic — No special properties
- Craftsman’s Bags — Looted crafting material is placed here first. Tailor only. Their contents do not move when inventory is sorted.
- Oiled Packs — Looted junk is placed here first. Leatherworker only. Their contents do not move when inventory is sorted.
- Equipment Boxes — Looted weapons and armor are placed here first. Armorsmith only. Their contents do not move when inventory is sorted.

- Invisible Bags/Safe Boxes — Items in these bags can be sold neither to merchants nor at the Black Lion Trading Company. Their contents do not move when inventory is sorted. Using ‘Deposit Collectibles’ will not affect items inside invisible bags; items individually can still be deposited using the right-click menu.
^from the GW2 Wiki

Cheap/Easy to Obtain 20 Slot Bags – Current Halloween Event. Fractals Boxes are very cheap if you do fractals. You also are given various bags from Personal Story I know I got a few 8 slots this was on alts.

Certain events in low level areas (Killing Boar in Queensdale for example) give free 4 sloters and you can easily craft 8 slotters right away from level 0 of any crafting Discipline.

I would say that they are very generous with bag size in this game and there are many ways to get bags of various sizes and types.

Here’s the Wiki Page for Bags that has lots of cool info on how to get them: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bag

Sure new players may not know all of this but when they get introduced to crafting they will likely notice it.

Fair point, thank you.
