Does anyone have problems navigating to the star of their personal story in the Black Citadel? That has to be the most poorly designed racial town in the game ever since release!

There are no levels, everything is thrown together onto a single flat map but in actuality there are many levels, so you are left with the confusing tasks of interpreting something on the flat map with its actual level in 3-d space.

I felt compelled to explain to my friend that the reason charrs hunch is because they spend too much time running up and down the black citadel, and staring at the map trying to figure out where anything is!

Yeah the inside of the Citadel is a bit of a maze. Maybe it’s to stop invaders finding their way around.

The grove isn’t much better, but at least they have an excuse for it being all random.

There’s a funny ambient conversation in Gandarren fields where a Norn trying to get to Vigil keep is frustrated that he has to backtrack. “But I just came from the North!” I feel his pain.

Yeah, Black Citadel layout isn’t very good. It’s a big part of why I won’t do another map completion. That has been the most frustrating zone for me.

Blomm: “This is a grand and remarkable city. Even by asuran standards.”
Adamant Guard: “The Black Citadel is grand and remarkable by any standards.”

The tricky part of the Black Citadel is mainly the many-leveled central core. The mini map is divided into only two or three levels so it’s hard to tell where some of those POIs, etc are and how to access them since they don’t actually fall in those levels shown.

When getting the POIs, WPs, etc in that area of the Black Citadel I use the same technique that I use in solving a maze – always go right (or left, but only one direction depending if you want to move clockwise or counter-clockwise through the area) and explore every nook and cranny along the edges.
