I was looking over some of the astetic change kits and the Name Change Contract was the only one that kinda iritated me. If you look at appearance or hair style change kits they both say you must accept the changes for the kit to be consumed. While if you look at the name change contract it doesn’t have that fine print located there. The reason this bothers me is that say all the names I want are taken and I need a time to think of something else so I close the window. Does that mean my contract gets used up even though I didn’t get to change my name? I mean that doesn’t even seem fair considering it’s worth 800 Gems equal to $10 USD. I would like to think if I am going to drop that kind of money into a name change I should at least be given a heads up if I have to have a name in mind ready to go and know it’s available before I even use it. Well hopefully someone has already toyed with this and has an answer for me or a red post will bump this with good or bad news. Either way thanks for reading my post.

I used one… the name I changed to I had picked out ahead of time, and it wasn’t taken. I forget when the actual item disappeared, but I would expect that there is a cancel button that would let you use it at a different date instead.

There is, indeed, a cancel button:

I understand there’s a cancel button but, my point being is the tool tip text doesn’t say that it isn’t consumed if you don’t in fact accept a name change. Meaning if press cancel that doesn’t mean it will not consume that contract. If it doesn’t say it I don’t know if it’s worth buying it just to find out it disapears because you cancel since you couldn’t get the name you wanted. Which is the entire reason of this post here.

Also you’ll notice Wiki doesn’t contain the answer to this question and the guy who made the youtube video did not display a successful cancel of his contract. He only displayed a successful name change. Neither of those links were helpful.

I am not sure what the point of a ‘cancel’ button would be if it didn’t cancel the transaction. If you really want an official response, submit a ticket with Customer Support and ask them. I am sure they would be happy to enlighten you on this matter. Good luck. =)

While there is a cancel button according to the above poster – my suggestion on something like this would be to always use a ‘new alt’ to first check for the name you want, going down your list until one that isn’t taken works.

- This is one reason why for 8 characters, I have 9 character slots. I keep one extra around ‘just in case’ or for when I want to experiment with ideas.

(and in fact right now my extra is holding a name I want to give to a real character soonish).

Maybe you can’t afford 9 character slots. I was a bit excessive there… but one more than you need is a good thing to save up gems for for this and other uses.
