Name the Sea Dragon competition!
Ctholin might work.
But I think Bubbles fits.
A Cthulhu derivative might be copyright protected. I think also it is expected to begin with “S” based on clues in LS2/ Also the Sclerite weapons might be a clue
daryola ……. well i can say thousands of names but this 1 seems to work :P
Bubbles – but must start with an S – it’s obvious:
“Stubbles” – even leaves room for stingers and such being part of his armory
Steve.
Steve.
Bob is probably easier to pronounce under water.
Super Bubbles! We already called it Bubbles, ArenaNet gave us an ‘S’…so, Super Bubbles just makes sense.
Godzilla.
Fancy asura cannons vs. atomic breath sounds like it would be fun to watch.
Shoop da Whoop.
Reasons:
It’s a dragon……head…..thingy
It (could) be underwater
Name starts with S.
Picture: Shoop Da Whoop corrupted dragon minion killing the new playable race.
ANet may give it to you.
I think Sagilacrus
Lavos…………………………

H.P. Lovecraft’s work (mostly) is within the public domain, so while it’s not legally a problem, it would be a creatively bankrupt move.
“Sea Dragon”
The S documented by the ancient races and Six Gods wasn’t the beginning of a name, but a description – Sea Dragon – called such because this final dragon is so great, ancient, and powerful compared even to the other five Elder Dragons that it has long ago shrugged off the identifying nature of a name. After all, when one rules the unending depths of the ocean unrivaled by karka, krait, or other Elder Dragons (note how not a single one has spread into the ocean despite having navies (Zhaitan) or having assaulted floating iceberg cities (Jormag)), what is a name to such a beast? A name is but a limitation to describe its power. It gives it a label that makes lessers think it can be brought down.
Thus it is simply nameless. The Sea Dragon.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Spongebob Dragonpants!
Save the Bell Choir activity!

Ah yes, the nameless named one, its’ name a reminder that it has no name. Thus unnamed, we cannot name it, so we name it a name that isn’t a name.

You’re mixing ‘names’ with ‘labels’ there. :P
While names are, effectively, labels, not all labels are names. Descriptions, titles, names, and pretty much any form of identifier is a label in the end, but not all are names.
;)

A lot of Dragons are named, based upon their looks.
Is this a snake, a big lizard, a huge bird, two or three shapes combined?
Without knowing if it’s serpentine in shape or a big lumbering mass,
we could end up with a totally inappropriate name.

That was the point! But you’ll find that whenever something is referred to by a

we’re using a name.
I was (reductively) poking fun at language.
Quaggans probably already named it Foo.
Abyssal. It’s a play off the word abyssopelagic: the deepest areas of the ocean.
Sir Not Appearing In This Game
Ever.
Lavos…………………………
I like the way you think.

Abyssal One?
Umm…Sorpentu?
Swansea didn’t want to call it Swansea?
I like Bubbles but maybe Her Royal Highness, The Lady Lord Oceanblossom Legripper the Remorseless Eating Machine for some formal dignity.
Special thanks to Randulf and Just a Flesh Wound for their input on this project.

You shouldn’t have flushed him.
Now, you will pay.

I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure that the Sclerite weapons are named as such because they have those creepy blinky eyes on them. The Sclera is the medical term for the white part of the eye. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sclera
That being said, perhaps the sea dragon is a weird eyeball-y freak.
But I do quite like “Selbbub”.
I hope that A-net add some of this crazy fan theory into the game when Steve McBubbles appears.
Plot twist…………Sayeh al’ Rajihd is the Deep Sea Dragon!!!!!

You are so fired for revealing this. :P
The Deep Sea Dragon’s name is Sahara. Because opposites attract.
Trepzacoatl, inspired in the winged serpent from the mesoamerican civilizations Quetzalcoatl.
It’s time to have a bit more diversity in dragon’s design and morphology, all dragons in GW2 seem to come from the western fantasy concept and nordic mythology (or at least they’re inspired by them). I think a great serpent will fit the underwater role perfectly.

Funny thing…i never imagined it being anything other than a great serpent. Only image that makes sense. If that mofo Free Willies out of the water so we can fight him inland…ill be kittened.

call it Esport and show it the love it deserves
As I hate underwater combat I would like the Sea Dragon to just disappear. Or failing that have the expansion on land with the dragon on some beach somewhere or we fighting him from ships at sea. NO UNDERWATER COMBAT!!

You are correct, but Anet has form for naming Dragons after myths or using twistings on existing terms. Jormag’s name being inspired by the Wurm from Ragnarok for example and if wiki is to be believed, Zhaitan is similar to the Islamic word for Satan. Sclerite, whilst less obvious a term to use, is now in the Tyria naming system and it’s possible a corruption of the word could relate to the Dragon.
