Apparently, the devs has now given the name of the lethal wells spams from Champion or Veteran Risen Subjugators since the September patch: Frightening Blast

The wells placed by these Subjugators still lasts 30 seconds until those Risen die or disappear, while continuing to melt any dumb NPCs standing on the placed wells. Veteran Risen Subjugators are commonly found where you escort the Pact to the Temple of Balthazar, and while attacking the Risen Priestess of Dwayna.

So there you have it. With a name given and shown in the combat log and no changes to the wells mechanics, this behavior seems to be intentional. This still do not explain why Veteran Subjugators still have the abnormal ability to life leech anything a mile away.

Except when people got incapable of interrupting them, and the Veteran Subjugators ended up leeching health from the farthest waypoint. Who’s going to stop them now?
