I was playing on a friends account for a week or so, today I decided to buy the game. I deleted the characters from that account to get my names back, and now it tells me the names are in use. Are names account bound? Why can I not use my names having just deleted them from the other account? Are names permanently inaccessable once input into the server from a given account?

Deleted character name still belong to account for 24 hour. After 24 hour any one can take it.

It takes 24 hours for the names to become available again to everybody after deleting a character. This gives the original creator enough time to remake the character without the worry of the name being taken by another player.

I think they are locked for a few hrs after you delete before they are available to the general populace again.

Yup, as other’s have stated – 24 hour grace period so a person can reclaim if desired. was the same way in GW1.

gotcha, thank you, I understand now. I was worried a minute I’d just lost my good names. Seems trivial to some but I’m sure my fellow gamers can understand.
