That outfit is awesome especially for my sylvaris, but for the boots. I’d be all over it if not for the boots. It’s like wearing Uggs with an evening gown. Let me guess, a man designed it.

I hate the boots with that outfit. Thick, clod stomping boots matched up with a leaf dress. Ugh. This will be one of the few outfits I don’t buy.

I think the female one is kinda good but the male one… I don´t know I was waiting for something nature-ish for my druid but this just doesn´t cut it for me. And yes, at least for me, those boots are out of place.

While I wait for something like the norn predator´s chest piece for non-norns I will sink into this trenchcoat nightmare.

Thanks to my illusions this combat is nothing but a stage scene.
You should prepare for your great finale.

Let me guess, a man designed it.

I don’t see what “a man designing it” has to do with anything, considering a large quantity of high-brow/upper-class fashion is designed by men.

Uggs are hideous, and they were designed by a guy, but so was pretty much all fashion throughout history. I would imagine that some element of fashion in the past few thousand years would be appreciated by you. To say hideous fashion is caused by men or that they are incapable of understanding the concept of beauty, elegance, or tasteful attire is pretty brash and quite insulting.

I think the whole outfit is ugly, and I think the boots are more reminiscent of traditional decorative Inuit footwear. Absolutely out of place, but certainly not featuring more modern lines that Ugg(lie)s do.

I have to agree with the sentiments here. I like the dress. I like the boots. But not at all together. Would love love love for Boots, Hats and Gloves to be separate pieces on outfits.

Female: cool outfit with unfitting boots that you can’t remove.

Male: hideous, as expected from anet’s male gear.

I find the boots are why I don’t want to wear it on most of my female alts. I think that perhaps the main problem is not so much in the silhouette (though it is not a boot style I like, RL or in game) as in the dye options.

Talking female here, the underskirt comes out very drab if not dyed darkly, which means you are likely to want to dye the overleaves more brightly. Those share a dye channel with the boot puffs, which in turn add a lot of bloom to any dye. If you want to diminish the boots you have to lose detail in most of the dress.

I would prefer the puffs to share color with the bit of cloth wrapping around the right ribs and bust, and to be far less luminous. As it is the puffs seem to be made out of day glo plastic Here is my dye attempt on a female sylvari, shown front lit and back lit in the natural sunlight of LA. The glowing puffs pull the eye away from the rest of the outfit to make the boots the central focus instead of the accessory they should be and render the whole thing bottom-heavy.

OMG, it does look like UGG boots on a dress… haha, it would be better if they can separate the clothes to make more combinations

Now let’s be fair. I just googled UGG boots, looked at their main Australian site, and didn’t see a single pair of boots with columns of fringey puffs. I’m actually tempted by the cardigan sock boot things … (I no longer dress for fashion. Comfort is king). But with my arches I can’t buy without trying on, so ah well. But I digress!

I have certainly seen that boot style RL, and to me it’s always seemed tacky (I may not care about fashion, but I do care about not looking trashy). I’m not sure strings of fringe have been done right since the 1920’s. In this instance it certainly doesn’t go with a skimpy dress that bares the arms and legs.

Or people could stop buying outfits and give ANet some financial motivation to put those same artists to work making armor skins that let you ((gasp)) pick what boots/shoes to wear with your dress.

Or ANet could use the money they get from selling outfits to fund the making of free ingame armor.

There’s nothing wrong with the gemstore selling fluff and cosmetics. If players have a problem with lack of ingame armor, let them talk about that. The money from Gemstore purchases could be used towards ingame rewards, which means they should be selling outfits and of course making armor for ingame.

Maybe if they were more leaf-like rather then fur?

That sentiment is fine, but they are NOT making in-game armour.

And that’s a separate issue from them making gemstore fluff to sell. And no, I don’t think making armor is so difficult that making outfits cuts into that. They can do both if they want.

The sad thing for me is that I like the boots. Just not with that dress, which I also like. And I don’t like either of them with that shoulder piece, which I also like.

I’m actually okay with outfits, as I like the ability to swap looks quickly (though of course a second armour panel could have done this), but this is one instance where armour would have been much, much better.

From the financial point of view they’d also make more money if they’d separate the pieces. Instead of 700 gems for an outfit, sell each piece for 150 gems and you’d get 900 gems for a full outfit, but people would buy more so they can mix and match the look they want to go for. It the simple principle of “sell to 100 people something worth $10 instead of selling to 2 people something worth $100”.

HoT came with tho armor sets plus nine unique armor piece skins fot the specializations. Anet has release more than 5 (I think) complete outfits that are sold on the gemstore every two weeks. I can see why people are angry about this unabalnce (I am a little bit angry too)

The boots were a bit of a shock at first but they grow on you. I also like to think that Tyrians would have different dress sense than we do.
