Hi. I think I filled the internet with this kind of ideas but didn’t get any response. The thing is – my dream is to create a Guild Wars 2 non-commercial fan videogame. I have stated this in…a lot of places. Why ? Because no one did this and I consider that a videogame is the ultimate tribute to show that you really like the game Arena.Net made. A lot of people do artworks, pieces of music or write poems. By making a videogame, you simply get a similar feeling of what an Arena.Net developper feels like when he gets a feature done. You simply have the chance to grab similar tools, and learn something on the go. I don’t make illusions of things that I could never achieve. I want to do something that a single person could make. I think that most of the people, when they see my posts, say ,,this guy is not serious", and ignored the treads. I want to demonstrate that I’m capable of doing this, even if the actual development might start after a few years. I am aware that game development is not an easy thing. In my past fan projects, I have modelled a Charr :https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/fangen/Charr-3D-model/first#post3905829 As could you see, I still have to learn a lot.
What I could do – A single player episode, similar to a Living Story instance. Something focused on a short term story, doable by an indie. Basically, in all of this, the most important thing is the message transmitted to the players/viewers. I don’t fear the programming because nowdays there are tools that let me use visual scripting instead of coding. The art creation takes the biggest time.
I concluded that the best way I could proceed is to do the game, then release a video walktrough. After that, I mail Arena.Net and ask if I could release the game, and if they accept, I’ll share the game to the community.
What do you think ? Is this dream viable? Do you advice me to continue ? Should I take other things in consideration ?
