Need help picking a second class please
I enjoy playing ele after playing engineer for a bit more than a thousand hours. The class is fun, the rotation are involving and there’s that feeling of putting things on fire like engi does. You can overcome the squishiness with practice. Guardian is, in my opinion, a great class, but it’s mostly about defensive support so the gameplay is really different from engineer. Thief would take a spot of an engineer in a meta comp, so I guess you could try it. They do things really differently though.
The other classes all have their flavor obviously, but if you’re looking for similarities with engi, I’d look toward ele/thief more.
Thief was the profession that immediately screamed out when I read your post. It can be squishy, but there are plenty of ways round that with stealths, evades and high leeching.
Go with a necro, you can’t get more second class that that.
Seriously though stick with ele, if you are already dexterous enough to play an engy, ele should be right up your alley. The ability to mitigate damage will come to you over time along with the timing for switching.

If you PUG dungeons, necrophilia might not be the choice if you want to do meta runs as a lot of meta groups will kick necro for various reasons.

That was my point. In the second paragraph I suggested he stick with an ele. I guess as people say sarcasm doesn’t transfer over the text very well. Feel free to insert a /s after the necro comment.
It’s sounding like elementalist is the best bet. Guess I need to to learn how to play it better.
Though Thief is an interesting recommendation from Randulf. I always saw them as a squishy melee class (a real paradox).

eles are simply the best, if you run celestial accessory items with power/condi/XXX you can kill anything and never come close to dying.
