Need help with "screen tearing"
Anyone Please? I would really like to get in a couple hours tonight insteada of possibly getting bored of waiting for a reply and hopping onto D3 just to be disappointed that I bought it.
try updating ur gfx card drivers, update ur directx, test more games than just this to make sure it only happens here, if same still occurs after all those checks are done and only happens with this game then u need to contact costumer support.
How do I update directX? And I have tried the only other game I have for this pc being D3, which doesn’t do it. It seems to do it when something is being loaded or refreshed like when I scroll up or down in the browser. Not like crazy hardcore just a split sec. Not worried about that I just wanna play GW2 and can’t because it goes all out crazy when I try to. Card drivers are updated btw just not sure how to check or actually update directx

There u go.
This isnt exactly the appropriate forum for this type of problems btw, so if that doesnt work then its something more complicated, when ur screen tears while vieiwng webpages i suspect alot u dont actually have ur gfx card installed properly, u should reinstall the latest drivers from your brand website.
I know but obviously more people look at this forum rather than the original I posted in, still no response on the other one. Shame on me but I just wanna play the dadgum game. If I installed the gfx card wrong then why would it just start doing this last night? Instead of the minute I downloaded the game?
there are too many reasons for that happening i cant just guess mate, please contact costumer support, they will help u further, and or test other games, just 2 is not enough, install more do whatever u can do test it, u dont need to be a hardware technician to get to the bottom of the cause.
Also everytime u have an issue u must always post your full pc specs and operating system.
this happens to me too. try going from full screen to window mode. Then when it starts tearing up again, switch back to full screen so on and so forth.
As for the cause, it may just be your monitor, or it could be video card overheating. Either way, you should open your computer and check for dusts clogging up the fan.
That’s what I’m getting, sorry about the quality but at least you can see what I’m getting when I use the launcher. Now I’ve found I can actually play the game with none of the “tearing” but when I load a map it’ll tear and go to the desktop. As far as Pc spec what all do you need?
Windows 7 64 bit
8gb Ram
Amd radeon HD 6800 series
intel core 2 quad CPU Q9500 @ 2.83 Ghz
Anything else?
Monitor is a 24" Samsung series 3 s24b300el
If you need a better vid I could send from the phone, not too sure why it cuts in and out of audio like that.
Also it’s running at 37 degrees celsius

make sure you havent made any custom settings in the ATI panel (if those exists, i had similar problems on an nvidia-card after making a custom AA-setting)

Ok good so its an ATI card, uninstall ur drivers select express uninstall and select that uwant to loose all ur settings, reinstall the latest ones from the amd website and try again.
if you have a game profile setup for GW2 in your ATI settings, turn on “vertical sync” and “triple buffering” and see if that helps.
Try checking the physical connection to the monitor.
I’m not at all a computer savvy, but I was just wondering same as KazNaka, if your video card is overheating. Do you know how to take it out and blow the dust off it? Maybe it solves the problem.
BTW, did you just start playing GW2, or your problem started just now, and you had no issues in the past with the game?
Hello,
It’s possible you may simply need to update your drivers from from the video you had posted this could potentially be a hardware issue as well. I would first start with making sure you have a clean installation of the latest AMD drivers: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx
Should I download all of those? I did the first one and it helped with the launcher problem, but I still have a problem of the screen going to the desktop when it’s loading a map, not that big of a deal really but just wanna make sure I got everything going right.
Thank you so much for all the feedback btw, greatly appreciated! I can now enjoy the Lost Shores event!
Hi there, glad to hear the updated drivers helped with the launcher issues you were having. If you would like further support with the screen going to the desktop when loading a map then definitely create a technical support ticket so that we can better assist you one on one.
Okay so something weird, I’m having to redownload that first one everytime I turn off my pc and back on? Should I jsut make a support ticket?
