Guild Wars 2

I am trying to get 2/2 on the upgrade slot with runes. For example Ihave a piece of gear that has "Rune of Flame Legion 0/2)

Of the first stat (1) it has +10 power and it is grey’d out and the second stat (2) has
+5% burn duration. I bought 2 Runes of Flame Legion, double clicked them and applied them to the item but it still says 0/2.

Can someone please explain how upgrading with runes works. I assumed I needed 2 runes of flame legion to complete the first and second stats.

Are the items equipped? >.>

it has to be on different piece of armor, not on same piece.

example: 2 rune, 1 on helm, 1 on shoulder pad = 2/2, not both run on one piece of armor

When I equipped the item the first stat was green (+10 Power) but the second stat is grey.

Ok now I understand the same run cannot be applied to the same piece of gear.. thanks for all the help folks ..
