You can just WP to DR or LA if you want to afk to chill out. Or just log out and log back in when you’re no longer afk. I don’t see why we would need fishing for that. Seems like a waste of resources, especially if you’re gonna afk during it.
more mini games, fishing, perhaps gardening? We really need these kind of activities. Something where you could just gather and chill out. I realize that we have the “activity of the day” thing, but honestly I would want more. Like how GW1 which had a lot of little mini games that you could access separately, instead of just having one daily activity to play.
Also costume brawl arena needs to happen. Some dedicated place where people that want to costume brawl could go and always find someone to play against.
Mini “Facebook game” activities to do just while you’re pming someone or chatting with the guild would actually be really awesome. I’d love to see something like fishing in GW2.
Heart of Thorns is adding Guild Halls. This is the solution place to “chill out”, but won’t be in until the expansion. Sorry.

If it’s just a pretty place, then the use of it is just to be all like “ah, oh!”, but really doesn’t add much to gameplay new casual activities would really help (how about dye growing? Was in beta and got scrapped because that was too tedious to get dyes with, however, with people complaining that unidentified dyes are too rare, it could be presented as an alternative harder way to earn all dyes (from blue quality to rares, not the special ones) trough gameplay. (Cooking kind of does that, but it wouldn’t hurt to have another similar way accessible to everyone and not only the ones that took cooking as a profession).
Almost every MMORPG has casual activities to do in them, from fishing to minigames and playing musical instruments (The latter, we have in a basic capacity).
I was honestly incredibly surprised by the lack of casual, social acvtivities in the game when I first started playing, given the casual, social nature of the game itself.

There’s a difference between going afk in a pretty area and having something to do that doesn’t take up a bunch of your attention. One continues to keep you active in the game even if it’s in a lesser sense. Think of anything like match 3 games or solitaire. Or just the way fishing works in Minecraft where you just have to watch for the splashes in the water and press a button. It requires just enough focus to play, but if you space out while talking to your guild not much is lost.
Fishing would give people something to do without demanding to much of their attention (like farming a map where you have to pay attention to combat or you can get swarmed) and I think it would help with in general player bordem. Not to mention those sorts of things tend to be more stress free because of the simple hard to fail nature of it. It’s frustrating when you get in a bad SW map or the event you’re trying to do fails because people aren’t paying attention.
Of course I just absolutly love any fishing mechanic in games so I would be all for it no matter what >.>
I like the idea of areas designed specifically for chilling out. + saunas maybe?
Activities wise I have a few suggestions.
-Board games. (With full animations. would be funny to see a human and a Charr playing chess or something) I have a very detailed description of this in my head.
-Skeet shooting (Free aim)
-Crafting discipline mini games? Could be cool; you do stuff like metal work ,working on a lathe, cooking but you make the items for NPCs who then pay you maybe? Haven’t fully thought that one through.
I’m struggling to think of others at the moment…
Side note: Jumping puzzles are not good chill out activities because they’re aggravating. In this game anyways.
You stand to benefit more from making friends than making enemies.
Ya know, I was gonna make a thread that was kiiiiiinda similar to this, but then saw this one so I’m just gonna post here instead lol. I really love these ideas and I think they’re great- I would love to see stuff like this in the game! What I was gonna say in my thread was that I wish there was more of a- for lack of a better word- “social” side to this game. I’m not saying that it’s non-existent cause I know map chat (especially in places like DR and LA) is usually pretty active, and if you join the right guild then there’s your social interaction as well.
I guess I was just wondering if I’m the only dork that would love to make more use of the environment in this game. A good example would be the different social hang-outs there are in the main cities- mainly the taverns and stuff. It would be kinda cool to walk in there and find people chillin’, not even talking about the game necessarily but just anything random. I don’t know, I guess at that point I’m talking about basically using this game as a glorified forum with avatars lol. Which would be kinda pointless and silly I suppose. shrug
To swing back over to the actual topic of this thread, though, yeah I think mini-games would be an awesome addition! Like the shooting range in DR that has NEVER opened- I would love for that to be a game you can actually play! Fishing would be pretty cool too, or card and board games like a couple people suggested. Anyhoo, sorry for the ramble. XD
