The game only costs $60.00 USD – and does not have a subscription fee. There is quite literally NO reason to implement trial accounts in that sense.

If you do implement trial accounts, we’ll have a lot of issues with gold spammers that will include the dual-usage of both trial accounts as well as their preferred method of hacked accounts.

In the situation that trial accounts are implemented, please let them be severely restricted. I’m talking…

1. The starting event for each character is now independent of other characters, so you won’t get to interact with other players until you leave the starting zone

2. Trial accounts cannot leave the starting zone. When they are done with the event, they are left as event=complete, and kicked back to the character select screen until they purchase their account.

3. Trial accounts cannot use /say, /team, or /map – but can use /guild and /whisper to. This will keep trial accounts from being used as spam-bots, AND make it so new players can still communicate with friends. Additionally, /whisper should be restricted to only people who are on your friends list/have you as a friend.

I know ANet has mentioned nothing about implementing trial accounts at this time. But I also know that NCSoft lurks behind their shoulders, looking for as many ways to get as many people as possible in the game, hackers and spammers bekitten

Another solution to battle unfair behaviour that wouldn’t do anything to stop said behaviour. We already got craploads of spamming goldsellers, you really think they’d need to use trial accounts?

I’ve been getting spammed by the same dude (Keeps sending me mails) for the last few days. How about instead of not implementing trial accounts Anet gets a bit more on top of banning goldsellers that have been reported hundreds of times?

Dont you think Gw2 would have realized how to implement trial accounts?

It’s Guildwars TWO.
There is still a Guildwars and if you did a quick search on it, HEEY! trial accounts
Now how did that happen and work out?

Simple game’s max level is 20, trial accounts only get to be level 10, can they leave pre searing? YES.
Can leave post searing ascalon, no.

The game stops at a key point of Ascalon as a cliff hanger so people might wanna go buy the rest of the set and see whats it like.

And if you think the current base of 2 million is a big number, think again, thats tiny.
That’s not eve the amount of sheeps there are in New Zealand.

If they make trial accounts, they should put all trials on a server dedicated to trials.

OP, your suggestion would make trial accounts useless. Locking players into a solo instance and giving them, what, 10 minutes of gameplay at most? At best genuine potential new players will go away thinking they got nothing from the trial and it was a waste of their time, at worst they go away hating Anet for making the trial so pointless and loose all interest in the game.

A much better solution IMO would be basically what they did in GW1: Make it so trial accounts cannot use mail, the trading post or the bank. For genuine players it won’t be a problem because they’re unlikely to reach a point where they need those features, but it makes the account completely useless to gold sellers because there is no way to get gold and items on or off the account.

They could do what Rift did, and create a single server for trial accounts, and if you decide to purchase the game, you get a free character transfer to any server.

“Only” $60? $60 is not insignificant to waste for some people.

Well, we don’t have such restrictive zones here, and people start the game right next to a major popular city of their choice.

Hm, 60$ isn’t going to kill anybody who has a computer that is actually able to handle this.

However, trial accounts are a good bait. Just have to really limit them since there is no monthly fee.
