Getting rewards for playing the game how you want to play it is in no way disgusting. You don’t need these rewards, and if you really want them, you can earn them through hard work. Furthermore, the fact that you can get them guaranteed by achieving certain goals that certain players put a lot of effort towards is great. This is the kind of reward system GW2 needs more of.

I’m kind of saddened by another flaming armor though, what’s with Anet and flaming armors.

I guess I don’t mind it too much as long as they add other decent and nice looking armor to go with it. Too many flaming armors though, however this new one I think looks much better than all the previous flaming armors.

With Living Story stuff coming every two weeks you will be earning achievements faster than ever before. At least its universal currency you get for pretty much every single action you do, and its prestige, giving ‘high-end’ skin rewards to people who wanted this sort of thing, like myself. I think it looks fantastic and can’t wait, and hope they keep adding to this.

Which is even more good news, I was just stating the skin rewards because I see a lot of people asking for those so I assumed it would appeal the most.

Thats very true. As an Asian used to home cooked Asian food, I was treated to an expensive European fine dining experience and honestly I wasn’t won over, no disrespect to the chefs, restaurant or the cuisine. Not sure its called complaining though.

10k AP rewards probably would be if the exclusive skin is really good looking. That is a hell a lot of grind.

Anyone have a link to where any of these skins look like? Not sure if they’ve been released yet.

10k AP rewards probably would be if the exclusive skin is really good looking. That is a hell a lot of grind.

That’s also assuming that’s what it’ll cost to unlock it.

Funset is talking about all of the rewards though.

Personally, I can see it being a hefty amount for the armour, since these are supposed to be a goal to aim for. Yes, you can grind for them, but you don’t need to. If you go off of your own back trying to rack the points up as quick as possible, rather than playing like normal, then you shouldn’t complain of a grind you put yourself through.

However, for all other rewards, we can’t speculate because:

• We don’t know how much the incremental bonuses to MF and such go up by each rank.
• We don’t know how Laurels and Boosters will be distributed (bought with AP? Automatically awarded?)

I wish this was even remotely true. You know about a fruit called the durian? Some people find it pungent to the point that it is repulsive and my government has actually made it illegal to bring them into public transport in order not to offend tourists (mostly). I never had a problem with it at all even the first time I had it.

Locals constantly amuse ourselves to the facial responses of the people (both children and adults) who are unaccustomed to the fruit. Some may enjoy it eventually as an acquired taste but I believe some would never want to try it again. Unlike others, we are not so sensitive to be offended if that was the case.

I am not happy about reward system tied to achievements becouse I like achievements in their classical form (ie. being a goal on their own, not something you do to get something else). But then again I think I am in a minority on this so I shall not complain.

It wouldn’t hurt to have another gold sink to take some gold out of the economy rather than it just being redistributed to people grinding and selling or flipping whatever the content is.

It will be interesting to see how many achievement point you’ll need to get the skins.

It is entirely true, and I don’t see what how your anecdote of the durian challenges that. There are many, many foods that I initially didn’t like but after a few times of trying them something clicked and I started loving them.

Only question I have is whether or not the achievment point system will be in brackets, each dictating what the player can purchase. We have a lot of currencies atm, another 1 would just be melting the whip cream topping of currencies we have (coin, karma, laurels, badges, glory, ecto, etc)

That’s because what’s the finest food in the earth for one person might taste like kitten to another. Or be a danger to a third, due to allergic reaction. “Finest food” is a highly subjective quality.

It looks like a reskin because the pants shirt and shoes are CoF. The Gloves Helm and Shoulders are new.

I think for most people, people tend to be more picky / selective as they grow older as to what they eat. But thats just me. Maybe if your city happens to have an Asian market that sells durian nearby, you can learn to appreciate it, not sure if your other family / friends would be able to tolerate the odor though. But hey I wouldn’t be offended in the slightest if you don’t like durians as I am not in the fruit industry.

Look I am not slamming European fine dining at all. I didn’t say it tasted bad but its simply that I would not enjoy the meal regardless of whether it was free or not. Dessert is a different matter though.

Food does not taste different the second time round but I am sure this experience does not apply to art for example.

How could you even suggest such a thing! I’m on a very strict diet, do you know what that stuff would do to me? And the cholesterol, I’d have a heart attack just smelling it…

About the durian, yeah there’s a show called Bizarre Foods and the host will eat just about anything, often with comments like “and this smells like week old roadkill…” chew chew, “yep, and it tastes like it too. I’ll have another bite.”

He’s tried twice on the show to eat a piece of durian and gagged on it both times, you can count on one hand the foods he won’t eat and that’s one of them.

I can’t believe a debate to validate food preferences and tastes is currently going on.

I only used that as an example to say no matter how good something might be you’ll always find people who hate it; so don’t fret too badly over them.

If you wanna debate if a chef likes durians or not fine but that doesn’t discredit the achievement point system, and doesn’t really fall into the topic we’re talking about here.

I personally think the achievement system is the best thing yet, no RNG, no direct farming. You play the game regularly, explore everywhere and do everything and you’ll get rewarded naturally.

I’m looking forward to that like you wouldn’t believe, and I don’t even have that many achievement points, just 5,500. If I don’t unlock everything right off the bat that’s fine, if I have to work towards something that’s great.

I don’t mind not having everything instantly handed to me, it makes finally getting what you want that much more satisfying.

That’s because what’s the finest food in the earth for one person might taste like kitten to another. Or be a danger to a third, due to allergic reaction. “Finest food” is a highly subjective quality.

I am indeed allergic to kittens.

I just hope the reward skins are distributed like at the hall of monuments skins npc so i don’t need to take up bank space to hold the items.

i have to be honest. i loved the idea of achievement rewards. i like what they have done with them but they have massively over priced everything. I have had the game since release. I have just over 4200 points which means on average, i get 2 large chests per year,priced at 2500 points each. the stuff inside isn’t that great, 5g, a few laurels and a skin +(whatever find/boost) account bound bonus of 1%., for the time you put into it. I am a casual gamer but i know people who spend a lot fo time on there and still don’t even have much more than 6000 points. so you’re getting twice a year something you could get in the space of a day or two. i don’t want to come across ungrateful as it is a good idea and a good system but the rewards and cost are unbalanced.

Rewarding achievements….why are we complaining? Why should someone who achieves less be rewarded equally? You want more? Earn it.

None of those skins are appealing to me personally but I am still glad to see this. Tying the rewards of new skins to doing a variety of content rather than ‘standing AFK next to dragon timer spot’ is only going to help the game.

In time I’d like to see some new skins with less Disco in them. :p
- Something nor so flashy, just normal gear of different fashions (read: no buttflap) than we have now.

But this is a great addition nonetheless.

With this update the first page shows nearly completed. I just want to remind Anet that 10 months into this game my “hints” are still bugged. Forever stuck missing the full mail hint. Today I double checked by having people send me random mail.
