Just a quick question on if we will be able to buy the new ascended armor and weapons with laurels as well?

I know crafting them has been mentioned but I’m sitting on over 150 laurels and wanting to know if hanging onto them for later is a good idea or not.

Exactly because you are sitting on 150 laurels you are unlikely to get anything more for them than you already can. Anet believes in heavy timegating, and doing everything in their power to make all your past work worth as little as possible.

All snarky’ness aside, this is likely correct.

They may add in ascended armor that you can get with laurels, but they will put in another component that takes time to aquire, to prevent you from fully gearing out in ascended gear in day one, getting bored in a week, and leave the game (possibly for good this time!).

Think 50 laurels, 5 gold, and 10 XX time gated gathering material

As far as I’ve read, they’ll be craft-able, or otherwise rare drops from world bosses and such. I’m not big on crafting, and I like getting the best gear I possibly can, so that’s kind of annoying.

Either I’ll be working on my crafting, or hoping for another way to earn the ascended gear/weps.

The only ascended armor they’d sell for laurels would be the patterns to craft them. Probably around 10 each. Ascended gear is time gated on purpose, so there’s no way they’d let you buy them with just laurels the day they’re released.

I was thinking if they didn’t straight up add them to the vendor maybe they could put the materials on the laurel vendor so we can obtain them a tad bit easier. I wish there was some official word…

Turn your Laurels into Gold by converting Cores into Lodestones. Or buy lots of Dyes.

I’m currently sitting on 74 laurels. I’ve decided to just continue saving them for the time being until more information is known about ascended weapons and armor. At best, we’ll probably be able to use laurels to help obtain the weapons and armor. I highly doubt we’ll be able to buy them directly with just laurels. At worst, they won’t be used at all.

If you don’t have a pressing need for any of the current laurel rewards, it can’t hurt to continue saving them in the off chance that they’ll be used somehow for ascended weapons and armor. Otherwise, I’d just buy what you need and save any additional laurels for possible future use. That’s what I’m doing anyway.
