New BT Weapon Skins
They are bad. Simply bad. It’s not even that I don’t like them – I doubt anybody likes them really.
I can tell a lot of work has been put into them but who would want to use that?!
It’s a shame that clearly so much work went into such an aesthetically-unpleasing set of weapon skins.
The only skin that looks pretty cool is the staff skin. Everything else is just not all that cool nor pleasing to look at.
If I didnt already have an assortment of dreamthistle weapons on my sylvari’s I’d prolly get a few.
That staff though.. I might grab that while its cheap for the future; them tentacles :S
I hoped for Cathie’s dagger and instead I got this? sadface
The new weapon skins are awesome. The design blow me away. Hmm… do i need a leash and pet food for it?
To be true. Who signs up for bringing such ugly weapons to us?
Me too. Sad. Will keep my bl-tickets… till a beautiful weapon appears or maybe forever.
Looked good on my necro, especially with the tentacle back piece. I got the staff and I’m considering the dagger.
I think they’re pretty decent. Using Modrem parts to make weapons fits nicely with the LS and they have a very unique look to them. Not a look that will appeal to everyone, certainly, but unique stuff is good regardless. When I saw the name (before seeing them in-game) I thought to myself “More plant weapons? Meh” but I think they did pretty well in making them quite different from any of the current plant weapons, and in fact many of them are barely plant-like at all.
I am a bit annoyed they basically reused the same blue glow / particle effect from the Dreamthistle weapons, though. The blue glow fit the Dreamthistle weapons because they were a fusion of Sylvari (plant) and Krait (water), and the blue glow is very water reminiscent. Here, though, it seems a bit out of place. We haven’t seen Modremoth itself yet so I suppose its possible Mordy will glow blue like that, but all the Modrem stuff we have seen (like the Cultivated Vine and that huge flower Modrem, not to mention all the vines that have been sprouting up all over the silverwastes) have been purple, not blue. So its kind of odd that these weapons glow blue, IMO.
Still, I’ll probably pick up one or two. I really like the torch in particular, has a really interesting flame with orange mixed with blue.
Lol, these make me think I simply ripped a chunk off one of the Modrem to use as a weapon. Takes the ’I’m going to tear off your arm and beat you with it’ threat to an interesting place….
None of the skins appeal to me personally, but there are bound to be those that do like them.

Yep…like me. While I don’t like all of the pieces, I absolutely love a bunch of them and will be getting them. I’ll even re-do my sylvari necro’s colors to match I like the look and feel that much. My Charr and Asura necro will continue to use the Sclerite weapons. I love that organic primal feeling to them. Just wish the scepter had wriggly bits like the staff.
I like the staff but that’s more for the two-headed plant head piece moving part. What annoys me most is the white mist … why blue/white mist with a bright red and/or bright green primary colors skin?
The longbow/shortbow hafts are way too thick (reminds me of the not-so-well received other skins like it). The head of the hammer skin looks way too small. The greatsword/sword skins are OK from a design standpoint but really needs movement attached to it. The torch/focus/warhorn skins are just absolutely horrible looking (why not a tentacle base?)
I can’t imagine anyone using these or even wanting them. It doesn’t even match the carapace armor color scheme which seems like would have been a no-brainer.
I imagine the art departments didn’t coordinate at all on the Mordrem pieces.
Carapace and Luminescent armour goes with the Pact Fleet skins, imo.
I like this set. Ideal for a Sylvari Necro or Warrior. It’s too bad they don’t release many skins for underwater weapons though. The Mordrem theme would be well suited for that, and I prefer complete sets wherever possible.
The staff looks like it was derived from the legendary trident.
Real shame they continued missing out underwater weapons. They could have looked awesome. But that’s the sad fact of the game re: underwater now
They will make one underwater only zone. Mark my words.
I’m saddened. I wanted to love them, but they’re not to my taste. Sorry ANet. I loved the pact skins and the Wintersday skins. These just do nothing for me.
The skins looks like someone took the wrapping paper and leftovers of some fast food restaurants and tried to form weapons with them. They missed another opportunity to make good looking weapon skins.
There are plenty of water. It would be an epic fail if they made all underwater content unused.
I actually quite like how they are SO different to the rest of the black lion weapon sets we’ve been getting recently.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the staff skin. It’s got animation AND 3 little nipping heads. Love it. If there were any downsides, I kinda wish some of the other weapons had this (like scepter – would be appropriate)
I think these are going to look so good on my sylvari characters – especially the staff skin on my necro!
Don’t know why others hate it :-/ they’re really different. Personal preference I guess.
Edit: Anet, any chance you guys can release that ’Caithe’s Dagger’ skin in gemstore? Been waiting for it for a while and myself and quite a few others REALLY want it released – would look amazing on thief.

link to the skins online?
The staff looks like it was derived from the legendary trident.
I thought that immediately when I saw it. Not that I felt it was a negative because I would love to have the trident skin as a necro staff, but this one is good too. Though I would have preferred a purple (like the mordrem color) or maybe green mist rather than blue.
ah dulfy has it. Yay dulfy
Ok staff definitely wins the battle of the skins for this round
They will make one underwater only zone. Mark my words.
Maybe when they get to the underwater dragon. That is at least 2+ years away.
Hmmm. After seeing dulfy’s pics, I have a Sylvari thief who could use a plant themed pistol.
Im just curious..whats about new rytlock armor? Will it make it way to gemstore?
The greatsword looked kitten impressive in my eyes. It’s an acquired taste for sure. I for one am not fond of the longbow simply because it felt small compared to my beloved Dragon Jade.

I wonder why AN continues to make those fugly, yet well done, skins which barely anyone uses? How many people using karka (screlit or whatever, black kitten dropping ones) weapons, or those thistle or how the called from tower of nightmares? How many people will use this mordrem crap? How many people can like a crap like that? Yet we really could use classy, elegant weapons, there are so, so few of them in GW2. Barely any decent greatsword or sword skins available, every scepter looks like a kittening mace — huge, every greatsword looks like a kittening surfboard, every sword looks like some weird fugly stick of uknown purpose. SIGH.

It’s mainly the method of acquisition and subsequent cost that restricts people from using the BLTC skins.
If you could get ’em more directly, and at a lower cost, lots of people would use even the ugliest skins.
why did they have to blast them with that infernal blue glow? It detracts from the rest of the weapon’s form.
I wish they would pull the glow back about 30-50%
Sometimes Less is More
I recon these weapon skins are extremely impressive; very unique looking assortment of colors and I like how each skin varies amongst the other.. Some spikes there, some moving bits elsewhere. Very plant-like albeit my only distaste is the blue glow/particle effects as others have stated – it does indeed feel like a copy and paste from the dreamthistle skins. Still interesting concept.
Each to their own though. I will probably try and get a look going with these new skins, typically on a sylvari, no doubt. It only seems fitting. Ha.
Wonderful job ANet!
I like the staff out of all of them. I love the little venus fly trap looking things that come out of the tentacles. I prefer it over the dreamthistle staff since its less blue/green. Not really sure why they chose the blue glow though – nothing about blue glow strikes me as modremoth. I’d expect red or purple or orange or something.
But the other weapons are pretty “meh.” Feel like they could of put a bit more variation between the weapons to make them more unique from each other. Staff is really the only thing that feels like it has a personality in the bunch.
I love them all. I was saving my money for another legendary, but I’m seriously considering buying up Mordrem skins for all warrior weapons first, they’re pretty much a perfect match to my Sylvari’s aesthetic. Taste aside, I also think they are very, very well made. Lots of detail in both the model and the texturing.
This forum is a wretched hive of scum and villainy. ~DevilLordLaser
They’re not to my tastes, but I imagine they would be the perfect theme some players are looking for. (Especially roleplayers who have Sylvari characters that go down the “I SERVE MORDREMOTH” route.)

I agree. However, the same method of acquisition and subsequent cost doesn’t stop people from using, let’s say, chaos skins.
“So! You are going to hit me with that huge branch of leaves ?..whut? Oh..it is your new greatsword…why you’re crying? " XD
No I cant say I like any of them, there have been a lot of better weapon packs than this one.
I found only Dagger skin at least not horrible.
Seafarer’s Rest (EU): Liicher (Engi), Lii Cher (Warrior), Swf (Elem),
Licharr (Guard), Lich Eir (Ranger), Alt Fh (Thief). Lii Cherr (Mesm), S Wf (Necr)
They look well designed to me, though don’t fit any of the aesthetics for any of my characters. I don’t imagine they’re going to fit the aesthetics of a lot of characters, but hey, they’re not hurting anyone to be there at least.
Just not sure how much demand for that look there’ll really be. Would be interesting to actually know.

They are in the range of 90-100 gold for most of them which is a typical price.
Demand varies greatly from 500+ buy orders to less than 10.

I think they’re really nice.
The staff is probably the best and I think I’ll keep the one I got for myself instead of selling it.
they look absolutely hideous. more like underwater sea anemones than ground based plant life, and as has been stated, there’s absolutely nothing armour wise in the game that they fit with.
“Yeuch! – Still, it would look ok on my necro”
It’s not good when the whole weaponset only really appeals to 1/8 character classes (and even then only cos it looks like its made of zombified monster parts)
I really like the new weapons, they feel very unique. Even though I do not have a character for that theme, I might get staff because that one is just awesome.
Looked good on my necro, especially with the tentacle back piece. I got the staff and I’m considering the dagger.
Yeah .. i thought that if i would like the typical ugly necro the staff and dagger would
maybe fit .. and at least the daggers seem to be really huge.
However .. not really my taste .. and that where i found a black lion key last night and
got a full ticket out of it.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Aha! Well called, mate. I’ll see what this says over the next week or so.

Although i find the rest hideous, i agree with you here, and i did the same. That staff on Necro is really nice, but i’ve got a Frostfang and a Marjory’s Dagger that i’m not going to overwrite the skins on.
The staff is going to go well with my Slyvari Ele. Since everyone expects me to be evil… evil I shall be. Time to transform her into a dark plant monster…
demand for them will always be high by investors looking to sell them on when they inflate to 5 tickets
