I am new to posting in the forums so I’ll cut to the chase. I wanted to try & find a solution without resorting to this, but I only received generic responses to post here.

I wanted to ask about the three new Mail Carriers introduced recently, namely: Parrot Mail Carrier; Raven Mail Carrier; & Snow Owl Mail Carrier. I’d been looking forward to the first two before customization of mail carriers was an available concept. I was excited see them released.

I bought the Parrot & Raven immediately last Tuesday and my excitement has been draining since.

They are… awfully loud.
Specifically, the odd “BLING” noise they make. I’ve talked about it with other players who agree that it’s jarring & annoying to experience.

I wanna’ keep using these carriers, but it’s becoming increasingly difficult, & I’d rather not play the game mute.

tl;dr:
I was wondering if it may be possible for it to be changed to a generic bird noise—or even reduced or removed?

I don’t hear my Parrot, at all. Didn’t even know they made a noise. But, I have Player Instruments on low (nothing else), so maybe that is why.

I do not believe the designer took into account the repetitive nature of sending mail when selling items on the trading post and how this unnecessary ‘bling’ sound (and quite unnecessarily loud at that) would be undesirable to users.

I have these mail carriers and will not use them until this noise is greatly reduced or removed altogether. This issue has also made me very wary of purchasing any future mail carriers due to their possibly possessing these undesirable and excessively annoying sounds. (I do not recall if the preview also includes the animation sounds or if it is only of the animation. I’ll need to check on that to see if it is sufficient for avoiding future carriers with annoying sounds)

Really? I have the Raven mail carrier and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary.

And here I love the gift mail because my guy grunts repeatedly as he throws my stuff onto the trading post. A loud bing sound is even cooler.

I bought myself the parrot one last week. After buying it and applying it to my account, I started messing around in my collections tab (selling mats on the TP). I kept wondering why I was hearing this weird, very loud chime sound every few seconds. Finally I closed the bank window in time to notice that it was my fancy parrot making the noise. I had quite a confusing few minutes before figuring that out, though.

Some of the carrier sounds are not nearly as loud or irksome as others. I rather enjoy the sound of my griffon taking my items away from me. One could expect a whomp and grunt sound with a stack of packages landing, or a firework making noise as it launches your items away. The problem with these bird carriers is that they do not have a bird sound that I can enjoy, it is an unnatural and completely out of place sound that is of an easily annoying volume and quality. It is hard to appreciate a graceful bird swooping in and hauling off my items with this jolting ‘bling’ sound disrupting and ruining the experience.

I realize I am being rather wordy for something as simple as describing a mail carrier animation that many apparently do not even realize happens when you send mail/sell items on the TP, but it is a disruptive and unnecessary aspect of these specific account unlocks for me that I would prefer to be altered or removed without requiring the muting of another element of the game.

On the topic of Hero Panel previews they really should look into fixing perspective and size issues when previewing weapons and skins on certain sized characters (large norn, tiny asura for instance). It also happens with minis and finishers sometimes; the texture and the size are all wonky and make the object look different from the final item.

OT: I do agree. I haven’t purchased the mail carriers but I have previewed them, and I didn’t buy them for the exact reason the OP stated, which was the noise. I could already see myself getting flustered every time I roleplayed, receiving mails from friends and other things. ’Twould be nice to have a slider for such things as well.

Could take the chime at the end away. Or just lower it.

I like the owls bird noise the way it is.

Another mail carrier was released today, complete with the same annoying, overly loud, and completely out of place and unnecessary ‘bling’ sound.

I was very interested in buying this new Sylvari Seed Pod mail carrier until Dulfy’s video revealed that it, too, contained the same undesirable aspect as these bird carriers do.
